Lu Tian, General Manager of BYD’s Dynasty Network Sales Division, said the vehicle is designed for younger consumers with a focus on high-speed charging capabilities. This model was first exposed by the regulatory filings last December. Dimensions and design The Qin Max measures 4866 mm in length, 1880 mm in width, and 1495 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2820 mm. Compared to the Qin L (4830 mm x 1900 mm x 1495 mm, 2790 mm wheelbase), the new model is 33mm longer. The exterior adopts BYD’s family design language, featuring sharp, upward-sweeping headlights and a closed-off front grille. The front fascia is complemented by a three-section air intake. The side profile utilises semi-hidden door handles and multi-spoke wheels, while the rear features intricate ribbon-like light textures. Side and rear of the Qin Max. Powertrain and performance The Qin Max will be available in both plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and battery electric vehicle (BEV) configurations: Plug-in hybrid: Features a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine paired with an electric motor. The engine delivers a maximum power of 74 kW, while the motor provides 175 kW (235 hp). It is equipped with a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack. Battery electric: Offers two motor options with maximum power outputs of 120 kW (161 hp) and 240 kW (322 hp). Battery capacities are 52.868 kWh and 64.315 kWh, providing CLTC-rated ranges of 530 km and 630 km, respectively. Flash Charging A standout feature of the Qin Max is its integration of BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery and flash-charging technology. According to test data from existing BYD models with similar technology, the vehicle can charge from 10% to 70% in 5 minutes, and from 10% to 97% in 9 minutes. In extreme cold weather conditions of -30°C, the charging time only increases by 3 minutes.
