Bring a TrailerImagine buying a 2025 Ferrari 296 GTS for over $500,000, but after only driving it 1,300 miles, being able to sell the supercar for less than $400,000. That is what happened to the owner of this Ferrari, after they sold the supercar via Bring a Trailer, which included a huge amount of optional extras. The supercar emerged recently on the auction site and was sold on May 26th. According to the listing, the supercar originally cost its owner $504,308, and it had over $110,000 of options added to it. That is what saw the cost shoot up, but the resale value massively dropped after just over a year.According to Bring a Trailer, the car had only been driven for $1,300 miles before its owner decided to sell it. But with how the Ferrari market can go, that is enough to see the value drop massively, and it could lead to someone picking up a bit of a bargain.AdvertisementAdvertisementThe car is now worth just over $370,000, meaning the supercar has lost over $100,000 of its original value. That would have been a big hit to take for the seller, who may now be wondering why on earth he couldn't even get the original price back for it.This Wasn't a Standard 2025 Ferrari 296 GTSBring a TrailerFar from being a regular Ferrari 296 GTS, this particular one came with $131,000 worth of options added to it. One of those is the gorgeous Tricolore livery that adorns the supercar, as well as the carbon fiber and red vinyl accents. A set of 20-inch alloy wheels is also on the Ferrari, while there are red-painted brake calipers and cross-drilled carbon ceramic rotors. At the front of the car is a front-axle lift system, something that feels increasingly necessary for a modern supercar. The Scuderia Ferrari fender shields are another extra for the 296 GTS, and it's an option that doesn't come cheap either. The back of the car features dual exhaust outlets as well as a speed-activated rear wing. There is a lot to get excited about with this Ferrari.Inside, it's potentially even better. A leather and carbon-trimmed steering wheel is installed, which even features carbon fiber shift paddles. The bucket seats are power adjustable and finished in Rosso Ferrari, while there is also wireless phone charging and a JBL sound system. Under the hood is a mighty twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6, and paired with an MGU-K motor, the supercar produces 819hp and 546lb-ft of torque. Why Has This Ferrari's Value Dropped So FastBring a TrailerWith only 1,300 miles on the clock, it is tricky to pinpoint a reason as to why the price of this car has dropped so much. It still appears to be in great condition, and in effect, this is just a brand new car with a reduced retail price. Some Ferrari supercars, however, can drop in value quickly, with that depreciation sometimes starting the second it is driven out of the garage.AdvertisementAdvertisementAccording to Classic.com, the average value of a Ferrari 296 GTS currently stands at $402,947. The lowest sale of a second-hand car is $366,000, so roughly the same as this particular example. The top sale, however, is $476,000, which was a Tailor Made 296 GTS with just 115 miles on the odometer, again at Bring a Trailer. This car had $222,000 of options installed, and again shows that the value of these supercars can decrease quite dramatically. If you want more stories like this, follow Guessing Headlights on Yahoo so you don’t miss what’s coming next.
