Take away the roof, give it four-wheel-drive attitude, and add the right V8, and there isn't much else required to make one seriously desirable.Ringbrothers apparently disagreed with that, so when the Wisconsin-based custom shop got its hands on this 1972 K5, it transformed the classic Chevy into something capable of embarrassing plenty of modern performance cars.The finished creation is appropriately named "Bully," and subtlety clearly wasn't part of the brief. According to Mecum Auctions, Bully will cross the block at its Nashville sale on September 26, although no pre-auction estimate has been announced.1,160 HP Changes EverythingImage Credit: Mecum.Bully's centerpiece is a Wegner Motorsports 416-cubic-inch V8 based on GM's LS3 architecture, then Ringbrothers added a 2.9-liter Whipple supercharger, pushing output to a staggering 1,160 horsepower.Sending that power onward is a Bowler 4L80E automatic transmission. A Flowmaster 44 stainless-steel exhaust system and custom Ringbrothers headers ensure the supercharged V8 shouldn't have any trouble announcing its presence.That power figure puts this 54-year-old Chevy into fairly ridiculous territory. Thankfully, Ringbrothers didn't simply drop a monster engine into an old chassis and call the job finished.Built To Handle The PowerImage Credit: Mecum.Underneath is a custom Roadster Shop chassis and off-road suspension setup designed specifically for the build. The relatively modest wheel diameter helps preserve the Blazer's rugged stance rather than making it look like a show truck that wandered away from the pavement.The exterior is finished in BASF Glasurit Bashful Blue, an amusingly modest and perhaps the least appropriate color name possible for a 1,160-hp K5. Nearly every aspect of the original Blazer was reworked, resulting in a restomod that retains the unmistakable shape and open-air character of Chevrolet's early SUV while dramatically changing what lies underneath.Mecum hasn't provided guidance on what Bully might fetch in Nashville. Considering the Ringbrothers name, bespoke chassis, and 1,160-hp supercharged V8, however, this is unlikely to be a cheap way into 1972 K5 Blazer ownership.
