For 2027, it continues to blend style, technology, and everyday usability, with the SS adding serious performance at the top of the lineup.Compact electric SUV competitors include the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Ford Mustang Mach-E, and Nissan Ariya. What's NewBasicsNACS portCharge station communication equipmentOptional Level 2 and Fast Charging Adapter, Charging Essentials, and Premium Charging packagesAvailable J1772 AC, CCS1 DC, and PowerShift AC charging adaptersGM's NACS DC adapter and Level 2 adapter have been discontinuedExteriorWhite Sands paint, Galaxy Gray Metallic has been discontinuedSummit White roof color has been retiredComfort and Convenience package now includes High Gloss Black roof rails, replacing satin aluminum-finish roof rails that are no longer availableSS models receive a new set of 22-inch wheelsThe LT model's standard aluminum wheels go from a machined face with painted pockets to a painted bright SilverLT model mirror caps go from body-colored to blackGloss black shark fin antenna (previously body colored)InteriorSuper Cruise package now includes Bose premium eight-speaker audio systemSS seat inserts perforated pattern changes to unidirectional with no center alignment stripeThe All-Weather Mat and Black Illumination packages have been retired, as have the optional all-weather floor and cargo mats and the cargo carrier mountWhat We ThinkThe Blazer EV remains one of the more flexible mainstream electric SUVs, offering a broad lineup that lets shoppers prioritize range, value, or performance. It is at its best as a stylish, comfortable, easygoing electric crossover rather than a true driver's SUV, though the SS model adds serious straight-line speed for those who want it.AdvertisementAdvertisementMost buyers will likely be happiest with the non-performance Blazer EV models. The RS AWD we've spent the most time in impressed us enough to win our 2024 MotorTrend SUV of the Year competition, thanks to its upscale look, attractive cabin, and relaxed highway ride. It feels polished in the ways that matter most for daily driving. That said, the Blazer EV still asks shoppers to accept a few compromises. The absence of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto remains frustrating, even with Google built-in providing many core infotainment functions. Early software problems and the stop sale that followed also left a mark, and some buyers may want more proof that Chevrolet has fully moved past those quality concerns. If those issues stay in the rearview mirror, the 2027 Blazer EV makes a strong case as an approachable electric SUV for families, EV newcomers, or anyone stepping out of a gas-powered midsize crossover. Pricing is also easier to stomach than it was when early launch models arrived, helping the Blazer EV feel more like the mainstream electric SUV it was always meant to be.Top-Ranked Competitors:Hyundai Ioniq 5Ford Mustang Mach-ENissan AriyaMotorTrend TestedSingle-motor front-wheel-drive Blazer EV models produce 220 hp and 243 lb-ft of torque. We have not tested this version, but given its lower output and traction disadvantage compared with the AWD models, we would expect a 0–60-mph time in the low- to mid-seven-second range.AdvertisementAdvertisementWith dual-motor all-wheel drive, the midrange Blazer EV RS increases output to 300 hp and 355 lb-ft. In our testing, a 2025 model reached 60 mph in a quick 5.7 seconds. At the top of the lineup, the Blazer EV SS delivers 615 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. That extra power makes a major difference: In testing, the SS shot to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds. There used to be a Blazer EV RWD model, too, but that was discontinued for 2026.EV Range and ChargingThe Blazer EV's best range comes from the front-wheel-drive model, although wheel size matters. With the entry-level model's 19-inch wheels, range is estimated at 312 miles, but that figure drops to 283 miles with 22-inch wheels.AdvertisementAdvertisementThe non-SS all-wheel-drive model is also EPA-rated at 283 miles. The SS gets a larger battery and a higher estimate of about 302 miles, though in MotorTrend Road-Trip Range testing, it traveled 276 miles before needing to recharge. Most front- and all-wheel-drive Blazer EV models use an 85-kWh battery pack; the AWD-only SS gets a 102-kWh battery. The smaller pack can DC fast-charge at up to 150 kW, while the larger battery increases that peak to 190 kW.Chevrolet says the smaller-battery Blazer EV can add up to 81 miles of range in 10 minutes for FWD models or 68 miles for AWD versions. The SS is said to recover 79 miles in 10 minutes, although in our testing it added 81 miles in 15 minutes.Safety Ratings and FeaturesAlthough the Blazer EV does not earn any top IIHS awards, it performs relatively well in the institute's testing, with a mix of Good and Acceptable ratings. NHTSA, meanwhile, gives both drivetrain configurations its highest honor, a five-star overall safety rating.AdvertisementAdvertisementEvery 2027 Blazer EV features the Chevrolet Safety System bundle of driver assist features. It includes:Front automatic emergency brakingLane departure warningLane keep assistAutomatic high-beamsRear-seat occupant reminderCargo Space and Interior RoomThe Blazer EV offers slightly more maximum cargo capacity than the Hyundai Ioniq 5, but it trails key rivals in standard cargo space. Front legroom is a stronger point, comparing favorably with both the Ioniq 5 and Ford Mustang Mach-E.TechnologyInfotainmentEvery Blazer EV features an 11-inch driver display and a 17.7-inch infotainment touchscreen, but Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not offered. Instead, the SUV uses a Google-based system with Google Maps, the Google Play Store, and Google Assistant voice commands built in. Five USB ports are also standard.Sound SystemMost Blazer EV trims use a six-speaker base audio system, but an eight-speaker Bose premium setup is available and comes standard on the range-topping SS.Available UpgradesSuper Cruise hands-free driving technology is available for most trims of the Blazer EV and standard with the SS. Other tech add-ons include a wireless phone charger, head-up display, front and rear heated seats, front ventilated seats, and a hands-free power liftgate.ValueStandard FeaturesThe 2027 Blazer EV LT should remain a compelling value, even with year-over-year pricing increases. In base form, it offers a comfortable cabin, multiple powertrain choices, large digital displays, a 360-degree camera, and smartphone-enabled remote start.Recommended TrimThe LT base model's mix of range, tech, and convenience helps it feel well equipped without forcing buyers into a higher trim.
