Gasgoo Munich- On July 8, BYD rolled out its 17 millionth new energy vehicle from its Xi'an factory, making it the first global automaker to reach this milestone. The vehicle was the Seal 08, a large flagship sedan from its Ocean Series that officially launched on July 2 with a price tag of 196,900 to 239,900 yuan.Image source: BYDIt took BYD less than three months to jump from 16 million to 17 million units, resetting the speed record for production growth in the NEV sector. In the first half of this year, cumulative sales hit 1.8085 million vehicles. Of these, overseas sales of passenger cars and pickups totaled 789,400 units, surging 68% year-on-year.As the 17 millionth unit, the Seal 08 is positioned as a large flagship family sedan. It comes standard with a native fast-charging platform and second-generation Blade batteries. The pure electric version offers a CLTC range of up to 905 km, while the plug-in hybrid variant delivers 400 km of electric range and 1,660 km in total. For charging, it achieves a usable charge in five minutes and a full charge in nine minutes at room temperature; at -30°C, it requires just three extra minutes.In terms of intelligent driving, the Seal 08 comes standard with the "God's Eye" B- driver assistance system powered by LiDAR. It also features DiSus-A closed-type dual-chamber air suspension and rear-wheel steering. The company claims the model boasts 37 industry-leading "world-first" advantages.Located in the Xi'an High-Tech Zone, BYD's Xi'an plant is currently the world's largest single-site new energy vehicle production base, covering three major industrial parks: Gaoxin, Caotang, and Jixian. The rollout of the 17 millionth vehicle signals a new leap in BYD's production and sales scale.
