McLaren Teases New Car with Manual TransmissionMcLarenIn the famous words of Samuel L. Jackson, hold onto your butts—because McLaren just teased a car fitted with a manual transmission that it plans to reveal this Friday. The video posted to McLaren's social media pages on Thursday morning shows a rather artfully designed shifter with the McLaren logo seemingly floating in glass within the knob. Plus, there's a short glimpse of the gorgeous pedals (all three of them!). The throttle pedal is finished in orange, while the brake and clutch have a bright metal finish.A few other close-up shots from both this teaser and a second video released earlier this week allow a glimpse of the exhaust tip surrounded by carbon fiber, some cherry red paint, a gas cap, and a couple glimpses of the LED lights presumably in both front and back. None of these clips grant us enough information to further identify the car in question, however.AdvertisementAdvertisementWe also don't know the nature of the manual transmission in question. Is it a real manual gearbox, or will it operate similarly to Ferrari's simulated manual in the 12Cilindri Manuale? Plus, what engine is it paired with? The exhaust clips playing over the video sound most similar to McLaren's V-8, but that's no guarantee. One thing we're really hoping, however, is that the car isn't a one-off build. If Ferrari can justify building a run of "manual" transmission cars, it sure would be nice to see McLaren match that energy.Answers to all of these questions should come Friday, when McLaren pulls the cover off its new mystery car at Monterey Car Week. You Might Also LikeIf You Can Only Own One Car, Make It One of TheseThese Are the Most Popular Cars by State
