Woking reportedly laid out plans during a a recent briefing with dealers for an ambitious new lineup that includes some major branding changes and a few new models that certainly sound intriguing, if true.According to a report from Automotive News citing dealers who were at the event, McLaren's upcoming plans include a mid-engined supercar reportedly code-named "P34" making around 810 horsepower and 800 pound-feet of torque that slots between the Artura and the 750S. While that sounds more like a direct replacement for the 750S, this model would use an hybridized twin-turbo V-6 powertrain like the one in the Artura, rather than the long-lived V-8 in the car's other volume supercars. The shape would reportedly be longer and more dramatic than the Artura, and the interior would get new leather seats and LED screens to better compete with more luxury-focused brands. At a starting price of around $310,000, it could also undercut the MSRP of the long-toothed but beloved 750S.On the branding side, dealers reportedly detailed plans to move away from the company's performance and technology focused image with a dealership redesign meant to emphasize luxury instead. One dealer told Automotive News that the resulting dealerships would "[look] like a Gucci, Louis Vuitton or Burberry store," a far cry from the Apple-store-of-supercars look the brand currently employs.AdvertisementAdvertisementIn fitting with that redesign, the brand is reportedly planning to introduce more luxury-focused models. Former McLaren and current Porsche CEO Michael Leiters said back in 2024 that an SUV or a grand tourer would be major keys to future profitability for the company, and the latest Automotive News report mentions both the long-rumored SUV and a "sedan-like" front-engined grand tourer. That phrasing is particularly interesting, as it leaves the door open for everything from a relatively conventional four-door like the Porsche Panamera to a bulky two-door four-seater like the Bentley Continental GT.The dealership retrofit, SUV, and grand tourer all seem further out, according to the report, likely closer to the timeline of the still-theoretical MCL 6GT than to today. That V-6 supercar, on the other hand, is supposedly expected to arrive next summer.
