Watch Out Singer, TechArt Just Built Its First Porsche 911 RestomodGuessing HeadlightsAndre NalinSat, September 19, 2026 at 10:00 PM UTCAdd us on GoogleImage Credit: TechArt.If there's one corner of the restomod world that isn't suffering from a shortage of options, it's the classic Porsche 911. Singer helped turn beautifully reimagined air-cooled 911s into a serious business, and plenty of companies have since followed.TechArt has largely watched that boom from the sidelines. The German tuner has been modifying Porsches since 1987, building its reputation around increasingly powerful and aggressive versions of the company's contemporary models. Now, nearly four decades later, it has finally turned its attention backwards, and the result looks familiar enough to satisfy anyone who loves an early 911, while carrying plenty of details that identify it as a TechArt creation.AdvertisementAdvertisementMeet the GTclassic, TechArt's first attempt at applying its tuning philosophy to a classic Porsche. Based on the 964-generation 911, it enters a market already packed with seriously desirable (and seriously expensive) alternatives.TechArt Gives The 964 A Retro MakeoverImage Credit: TechArt.TechArt says the GTclassic preserves the proportions and character of the original while incorporating modern engineering and craftsmanship. Its 964 underpinnings are wrapped in bodywork inspired by earlier F-series 911s, complete with the longer hood and classic silhouette. There are plenty of modern touches, including LED headlights, one-piece turn signals incorporating air intakes, and a vented ducktail spoiler. Champagne-colored trim runs throughout the exterior, while even the rear TechArt lettering receives an extravagant 24-carat gold-plated finish. The specially developed 18-inch Retrosport forged wheels reinterpret the classic Fuchs design. They measure 8.5 inches wide up front and 10 inches at the rear, with openings designed to improve brake cooling and expose the upgraded Turbo braking system.Air-Cooled And Naturally AspiratedTechArt has resisted the temptation to chase enormous horsepower figures. The GTclassic uses an air-cooled, naturally aspirated 3.8-liter flat-six producing up to 380 PS, or 375 horsepower if you prefer American measures.AdvertisementAdvertisementPower is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. TechArt also fits a performance suspension, motorsport engine mounts, and a custom exhaust system with centrally positioned outlets. The company says its priority was the interaction between the engine, chassis, brakes, and driver rather than focusing on a single headline performance figure. For a lightweight, old-school 911, 375 hp should still provide plenty of entertainment.Classic Looks Meet Modern ConvenienceImage Credit: TechArt.The cabin continues the retro-modern theme with extensive customization available through TechArt's own leather workshop. The launch car combines plaid seat inserts with red leather and more champagne-colored detailing around the instruments.Buyers can specify Clubsport seats, while an optional Chrono Package installs a pair of Hanhart stopwatches into the dashboard for some vintage rally flavor. A Porsche Classic Radio quietly brings Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, and navigation into the otherwise period-inspired cabin.AdvertisementAdvertisementTechArt plans to build just 11 GTclassics, making this an exceptionally limited addition to the crowded 911 restomod scene. Pricing hasn't been disclosed, although exclusivity and nearly four decades of TechArt Porsche expertise suggest it won't come cheap.Singer may have helped define the modern 911 restomod formula, but it certainly doesn't have the playground to itself anymore. TechArt has finally joined the party, and the GTclassic suggests it was paying attention while it waited. If you want more stories like this, follow Guessing Headlights on Yahoo so you don't miss what's coming next.
