Porsche sales are down 16 percent in the first nine months of 2026 to 178,532 cars. The Cayenne SUV’s 59,586 sales total makes it the most popular Porsche model. More than 42,000 911s were registered, but fewer than 8,700 electric Taycan sedans. Earlier this week we got a look at Porsche’s plan to turn its business around, which includes job cuts, building a new supercar, and pushing prices up to make more money while selling fewer cars. And today the sports car brand released its latest sales figures, reminding us why that turnaround plan is so badly needed. Some, but not all, of the numbers make for uncomfortable reading. Let’s start with the headline number, the 178,532 cars Porsche sold in the first nine months of 2026. That figure represents a 16 percent decline versus 2025, and matches the drop experienced in the January to June sales release. Related: Porsche Celebrates 30 Years Of Manthey By Taking A 67% Stake, And Bringing Two New Models But some of Porsche’s models would consider themselves lucky to have only dropped 16 percent. Sales of the four-door Panamera fell a whopping 35 percent to 13,714, and the electric Taycan sedan plummeted 31 percent to just 8,699 units. The Taycan’s performance comes in stark contrast to that of Porsche’s iconic 911. The 911 is a more expensive and less practical car, but 42,217 of them left Porsche dealerships in the nine months to the end of September. That makes the 911 five times as popular as the Taycan, which has been hit really hard by Porsche’s 33 percent decline in China. Even the US – which is turning its back on EVs – was down 13 percent, though it remains the brand’s strongest market. If Porsche does have a concern with the 911, it’s that its epic 12 percent sales jump these last nine months versus 2025 isn’t quite as epic as the 16 percent swell it experienced in the January to June period. The Cayenne SUV grabs that prize with 59,586 sold, the automaker saying it’s particularly pleased with the 7,002 examples of the Cayenne Electric moved since it hit the market in the summer. Overall Cayenne sales are down 2 percent, but if Electric demand remains high, there’s no reason why the Cayenne couldn’t see sales growth by the time Porsche puts together the full January to December spreadsheet. But what happens after that? The Macan Electric also enjoyed a spike in demand when it first went on sale, but interest faded fast to the point where the older combustion Macan was outselling it. Overall Macan sales for January to September reached 51,025, but that figure was down 21 percent, and only 23,029 of those were the EV. More worrying for Porsche is the fact that production of the combustion Macan has now ended, and the new one (pictured above in Audi Q5 mule form) won’t be available until the back end of 2028 at the earliest. Production of the combustion 718 Boxster and Cayman has also ended, and their electric replacements aren’t yet on sale, though Porsche still had enough stock of the ICE duo around to register 3,291 sales (down 79 percent).Having been burned twice by mistakenly axing combustion models in the hope that EVs will prove equally popular, Porsche isn’t about to make the same mistake again. The Cayenne will continue to be offered with a gas motor alongside the EV, and Porsche now says it has no plans whatsoever to introduce a fully electric 911.
