In fact, the Toyota 4Runner gives you about as much value for your money as any SUV on the market: Kelley Blue Book (KBB) reports that the 2026 4Runner has the third-highest resale value of any 2026 vehicle. Projected to retain 58% of its value after five years, that suggests the base-model 2026 4Runner would depreciate from its starting MSRP of $42,270 to a respectable $24,517.Better yet, what you get for that MSRP is a uniquely customizable vehicle that works for both a daily commute and all-terrain journeys. For instance, while most 4Runner trims come stock with five seats, you only need to drop an extra $770 on the base model for third-row seating. At that point, you'd still have spent almost $800 less than a base-model 2026 GMC Acadia, a three-row SUV competitor that CarEdge projects will only retain around 47% of its value — $20,586 for the base model — after 5 years.While the 2026 4Runner's upfront pricing isn't the most competitive on the market, it is more reliable than a RAV4 and drivers could recoup some of the initial expense long term. In other words, they'll have to compromise on space and power. For drivers unwilling to make this compromise, the 4Runner — both with and without third-row seating — offers drivers upwards of 90 cubic feet of storage and a turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Plus, despite its bulk, drivers tend to find the 4Runner more maneuverable than other competing SUVs — even in major cities.On that note, while perhaps not the best out there, the 4Runner does offer competitive fuel economy when compared to other vehicles in its class. The Environmental Protection Agency's FuelEconomy.gov reports that the 2026 model year gets a combined 22 miles per gallon, which aligns with similarly sized models like the fast-depreciating Jeep Grand Cherokee at 23, and the GMC Acadia at 22.
