This Four-Owner 1987 Ford Sierra RS Cosworth Is Heading to Iconic AuctioneersThe Sierra RS Cosworth turned a fairly ordinary Ford family car into a homologation legend, and Iconic Auctioneers has a well-kept example heading to its Classic Sale at CarFest. Finished in Moonstone Blue with grey cloth trim, this 3-door has covered just 65,858 miles and stayed with its previous owner for 27 years, carrying an estimate of £35,000 to £45,000.Introduced in 1986, the Sierra RS Cosworth 3-door was built as a homologation special for Group A touring car racing, with just 5,545 examples produced through 1987. The turbocharged 2.0-liter Cosworth YB engine sent power through a five-speed manual, and on this car it has been uprated to Phase 1 specification, now producing around 270 bhp. Additional work includes Samco silicone hoses, a stainless steel exhaust system, a strut brace, and Koni suspension fitted all round in 2010 following an attempted theft that also prompted a full lock replacement.Offered with a comprehensive history file and a full year's MOT, the car is HPI clear and graded by its vendor as good throughout the engine, gearbox, bodywork, paintwork, and interior. If you're curious how far Sierra values have spread across the range, our look at a much rougher Is This 1990 Ford Sierra XR4x4 Project Really Worth £3k? shows just how wide that gap can be. This RS Cosworth crosses the block on Saturday, August 29 at Silverstone Circuit.
