Even though the popularity and industry push behind EVs has slowed in 2026, several manufacturers are holding to the belief that electric mobility will continue to grow more prevalent, despite the recent headwinds. Lexus has already released information regarding the new electric ES, a sedan set to replace the beloved four-door midsizer in the luxury brand's stable. And now, we're getting information regarding Lexus' next entrant into the electric arena — a three-row SUV with all the hallmarks of a genuine Japanese luxury vehicle that also includes several features new to Lexus models. The Lexus TZ Is The Brand's First-Ever Electric Three-Row AWD SUV Lexus At first glance, you'll see the familiar identifiers of Lexus/Toyota design, like the bold, boxy wheel wells and blunt front end blending with crisp, sloping contours found on the Grand Highlander and the new Highlander EV, whose platform the new TZ rides on. That said, you know this is a cut above its Toyota cousins thanks to its refined, less rugged demeanor and delicately sculpted shapes — most notably on the grille and rear.Lexus The design isn't just for looks, though, as it provides the electric TZ with some of the best aerodynamics among Lexus SUVs. This is thanks to the smooth body design, flush door handles, optimized wheel design, aerodynamic side mirrors, underbody fins, and air dams, all of which give the TZ a drag coefficient of 0.27 while aiding in cabin serenity by limiting road noise.Lexus And if you want even more serenity, the TZ will offer a nifty feature called Active Sound Control (ASC), which will channel harmonic musical chords through the speakers when you accelerate and decelerate — it's basically simulated engine noises, but instead of engine, it's musical notes; if you want engine noises, you can also channel the legendary LFA's howling V10 to impress your passengers. All in all, Lexus says it's the quietest cabin of all its SUVs. Cabin Elements Blend Japanese Culture And Modern Design Interior shot of a 2027 Lexus TZ front cabinForged bamboo cabin accents can be found throughout, as well as supple materials and ample support for all three rows. For the first time in a LexusSUV, the front passenger seat and second row offer ventilation and power ottomans. Another first for Lexus models is the debut of the latest-gen interface, which features enhanced computing power, AT&T 5G connectivity, and a slew of new functions, like full-screen navigation on the cluster, EV charge management, and improved "Hey Lexus" voice assistant.Lexus The entire cabin is designed not only to put Lexus craftsmanship on full display, but also to ensure a quiet, mood-influencing atmosphere. This is thanks to the roomy, inviting cabin, thoughtfully designed seating and infotainment screen, and the added convenience of one-touch folding seats, all of which make the cabin practical, useful, and peaceful. There is also a bevy of ambient lighting themes that will serve to set the mood, and pair well with the panoramic roof to create an escape that could compare to something from a genuine bespoke brand. Powertrain Details Are Limited, Though We Have Some Early Specs Lexus is being rather tight-lipped with full powertrain details, though what they do confirm is that there will be two battery options: a 76.96 kWh option and a larger 95.82 kWh. As far as power, Lexus places the TZ at 402 horsepower via a dual-motor setup (for now), with up to300 miles of rangewhen equipped with the larger 95.82 kWh battery. Lexus estimates owners will be able to charge from 10 to 80 percent in 35 minutes with a maximum charge rate of 150 kW, which isn't near class-leading, but tracks with Lexus/Toyota's measured approach to new technology.Lexus Direct4 AWD is standard across the board and allows optimized handling thanks to its dynamic torque distribution. This, paired with the optional Dynamic Rear Steering (DRS), puts the handling on a higher level than most three-row SUVs — electric or not — and should make it plenty sticky when cornering and maneuvering. The 2027 Lexus TZ is expected to go on sale near the end of 2026, which is when we'll get more details on the pricing and trim info.Sources: Lexus
