SAIC MG officially announced that the 100k th MG4 vehicle has rolled off the production line. From the start of production of the all-new MG4 EV in July 2025 to reaching this milestone in May 2026, this pure electric hatchback took less than a year to achieve the feat. Data shows that since the first full delivery month in September 2025, except for the holiday impact in February this year, monthly sales have steadily exceeded 10,000 units. The core strategy behind MG4’s rapid volume growth in the domestic market lies in the deployment of many key technologies to lower price points. At the Beijing Auto Show that opened in late April this year, the 2026 MG4 was officially launched, available in 6 trim levels, with a limited-time subsidy starting from 65,800 RMB(~$ 9689). The new car offers two CLTC range versions: 437km and 530km. It comes standard with a 120kW high-power motor, giving it a clear advantage over main competitors such as Geely Xingyuan and BYD Dolphin. Looking at MG’s sales structure, based on April data alone, the MG4 contributed 84% of the brand’s sales, while other traditional fuel models such as the MG5 and MG7 accounted for a very limited share. This means that domestic consumers’ perception of MG’s new energy offerings is still at a “single-model” stage, and there is not yet a sufficiently complete product lineup to build brand loyalty. In contrast, rivals such as Leapmotor and BYD have already begun deploying their forces in the pure electric hatchback segment. For MG, retaining the MG4’s first-mover technology advantage is a basic move; the truly critical next step is expanding the entire new energy product lineup. 2026 MG4 launched at Beijing auto show. According to SAIC MG’s plan, 2026 will be a “big product year” for the brand. The brand will launch at least four all-new models within the year, building a full-dimensional coverage ranging from pure electric hatchbacks to SUVs, and from coupes to boxy off-roaders. In addition to the already launched 2026 MG4, the MG 4X will be introduced to the market in May, forming a “sedan + SUV” product matrix alongside the MG4. Furthermore, in the second quarter, the all-new coupe MG 07 will be unveiled. The car will offer both pure electric and plug-in hybrid powertrain options, with an expected price range of 150k-200k RMB(~$ 22089-29452). It will feature a roof-mounted LiDAR, meaning advanced intelligent driving will become its core competitive advantage.
