MG Reveals Two Electric Concept Cars at GoodwoodMGMG unveiled two concept vehicles at the Goodwood Festival of Speed that give a hint of the British marque's direction with its next generation of electric models. The concepts—the compact MG GO! hatchback and the larger MG Cyber Concept SUV—preview where the automaker looks to take its design direction as it continues expand its electric vehicle portfolio in Europe. Both made their world debut alongside a showcase of MG's current hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and battery-electric offerings.Of the pair, the more showroom-ready-looking model is the MG GO!, a compact electric B-segment hatchback that teases an as-yet unnamed model scheduled to launch next year. Designed at MG's Advanced Design Centre in London under design director Carl Gotham, MG says the hatchback draws inspiration from classic MG models including the MGB GT, though the automaker insists it wanted to avoid an outright nostalgia play with the concept. Instead, the GO! combines clean, upright proportions and a classic blocky shape, very much in line with Europe's sporty hatchback heritage.MG Cyber Concept.MG"We wanted to create something compact and contemporary, but also warm, expressive and immediately likeable," Gotham said in a statement. "It is not about looking back for its own sake, but about capturing some of the clarity, charm and emotional appeal that have always made MG so distinctive."AdvertisementAdvertisementThe Cyber Concept, on the other hand, is very much a design of the moment.MG says the large electric performance vehicle is an exercise in transposing a very sports car like design onto a higher-volume shape, a la an SUV. The automaker says the concept borrows inspiration from the EX181 land-speed-record car, but we see much more Ford Mach-E in the coupe-like silhouette and details like the taillights.According to MG, the Cyber Concept is intended to demonstrate that driving enjoyment and performance can remain central to the brand even as buyers increasingly turn toward crossovers over sports cars."Great design begins with people, not products," said MG Vice President of Global Design Jozef Kabaň. "Technology and innovation are essential, but they can be shared. Character cannot."MG GO!MGThe concepts also show how much MG's mission has evolved in recent years, from a builder primarily of affordable British sports cars to one of Europe's fastest-growing automakers under Chinese SAIC Motor ownership, driven mostly by its slate of competitively priced electric vehicles.AdvertisementAdvertisementMG said it surpassed 300,000 annual sales across the UK and Europe in 2025 and recently delivered its one-millionth vehicle in the European market. The company is also investing in local engineering and manufacturing, including plans for a new production facility in Spain as part of its "In Europe, for Europe" strategy.Beyond the concept cars, MG used Goodwood to highlight its expanding electrified lineup, including the new MGS9 plug-in hybrid seven-seat SUV, MG4 EV Urban hatchback, HS Plug-in Hybrid, ZS Hybrid+, IM5 electric sedan and the Cyberster electric roadster.
