The fastback sedan entered the market on August 21 at the 2026 Chengdu Auto Show, where MG said it collected 10,000 locked orders in 1 minute 57 seconds. That beat the previous MG4 record of 39 minutes 37 seconds. The MG 07 is officially priced from 108,900 yuan (16,240 USD) to 159,900 yuan (23,840 USD). A launch subsidy available through September 30 cuts the effective prices to 105,900 yuan (15,790 USD) to 156,900 yuan (23,395 USD). PHEV and BEV powertrains MG launched the 07 with plug-in hybrid and battery-electric options. The PHEV combines an 82 kW (110 hp) 1.5-litre gasoline engine with a 152 kW (204 hp) electric motor and a 30 kWh CATL LFP battery. It offers 245 km of CLTC electric range (approximately 185 km WLTP) and a claimed combined range of 1,745 km. The 400V BEV models use a 176 kW (236 hp) motor and a 67 kWh battery supplied by Qingtao (featuring semi-solid-state cells on the 610 km version). Depending on configuration, they deliver 610 km CLTC (approximately 460 km WLTP) or 650 km CLTC (approximately 490 km WLTP). The long-range BEV moves to an 800V silicon-carbide electrical architecture, a 235 kW (315 hp) motor and a 91 kWh CATL ternary battery. It reaches 845 km CLTC (approximately 640 km WLTP) and supports 5C charging. Selected trims include roof-mounted LiDAR. The system uses Momenta R7’s enhanced world model together with the X7 self-developed large-model chip. The sensor is offered on the Hybrid 245 LiDAR, EV 610 LiDAR and EV 845 LiDAR. With launch discounts in place, the Hybrid 245 LiDAR starts at 115,900 yuan (17,280 USD), making it one of the most affordable factory roof-mounted LiDAR vehicles on the Chinese market. Meanwhile, the EV 845 LiDAR checks in at 146,900 yuan (21,900 USD), offering an 800V architecture and 845 km of range well below the 150,000-yuan mark. How the MG 07 stacks up MG is targeting the No. 1 sedan sales position in China with the MG 07, while production capacity has already become a priority. The BYD Seal 06 DM-i starts at 99,800 yuan (14,880 USD) and competes primarily on lower entry pricing and plug-in hybrid efficiency. Its electric range is shorter than the MG 07 PHEV’s 245 km CLTC figure, while the MG offers LiDAR and adaptive damping on selected trims. The Xpeng Mona M03 is another battery-electric alternative, with 400V architecture and a rear torsion-beam suspension layout. The MG 07 instead uses a multi-link rear suspension with electronically controlled damping, while its mCDC system adds AI-based road-preview scanning over 15 to 150 meters and up to 200 damping adjustments per second. The MG 07 is built on SAIC’s Nebula platform, also known as the Modular Scalable Platform outside China, which supports both battery-electric and plug-in hybrid powertrains. MG said models rated above 800 km CLTC accounted for over 45% of early orders. The company had already asked CATL to add two battery production lines during pre-sale, before the 42,000-order milestone. Deliveries of the 650 km variants and the PHEV began in late August, while the 845 km variants are scheduled for October. Most important news in your inbox.
