Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police DepartmentPolice in North Carolina made an unusual "traffic" stop late last month when they encountered two men "driving" a couch mounted atop a pair of scooters. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said officers patrolling on the last weekend of September when they spotted two men traveling down South Tryon Street on a couch."Yes, an actual couch," police wrote alongside a photo of the homemade vehicle on Facebook. "We had questions too."The photo shows a large loveseat mounted atop two electric scooters, with a set of handlebars for each couchsurfer.Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department"While we appreciate the creativity, we do have to remind everyone: no matter what you're "driving" (using that term extremely loosely), please think about safety first," police said."Ask yourself: Should this be on a road… with actual cars… will the sheer shock of seeing this on the road cause other drivers to lose focus and drive unsafely? If the answer feels even slightly like yes,' maybe rethink the ride," police said. The department did not indicate whether the men were cited or merely released with a similar warning."As a rule – probably best to leave the mobile furniture displays to IKEA," police said.Read More From First for AutosAutonomous Self-Driving Trucks Have Begun Hitting California HighwaysFlorida Driver Blows Kisses at Motorist Before Brake-Checking Him on Interstate, Leading to CrashMechanic Claims Dealership's 300-Point Inspection Missed 'Bare Metal' Brakes on Used AcuraThis story North Carolina Police Say Pair's Custom Couch Scooter Probably Not Safe To 'Drive' first appeared on First for Autos.
