Although, according to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in Nova Scotia, one Canadian took that love a bit too far by allegedly driving a C8-gen Corvette Z06 at more than 300 kilometers per hour (186 mph) on a public road. Now, the Mounties are asking for help finding the driver.According to the RCMP, officers in Antigonish County became aware of a video (which you can see here on TikTok) and accompanying comments posted online on September 12. The footage taken by someone in the passenger seat appears to show a driver reaching speeds of 301 km/h on a dark highway. Police believe that the same Corvette may be connected to other driving complaints in the area.AdvertisementAdvertisementJudging by the laughter in the video, the driver and passenger appear to be having a great time. However, as the police point out in a Facebook post, a vehicle traveling at 300 km/h covers more than 83 meters (roughly 272 feet) every second. "Driving at these speeds is not a thrill, it's a serious danger," says Sgt. James Jessome.In addition to the inherent danger associated with such a high speed on public roads, a couple other aspects of the video draw concern. There's the less-than-ideal 12-and-5 hand position, the fact that the car ran wide on a curve, the fact that it's night ... and the fact that there appears to be an open container of SVNS hard 7up alcoholic beverage in the cup holder.Thanks in large part to its 670-horsepower, flat-plane crank V-8, we've been enamored with the C8-gen Z06 since it was released. And depending on specification, it can reach an impressive 195 mph.
