Chevrolet has introduced a significantly revised pickup range for the 2027 model year. The Silverado 1500 light-duty trucks are completely new, with the new generation of the F-150 rival unveiled back in June. But the Silverado HD lineup is also getting some attention. While they're not completely new designs, they're getting new engines, and Chevy has now shared pricing for the 2027 Silverado HD. These hard-working Chevy pickups were similarly priced to Ford's Super Duty trucks for 2026, so is that still the case for the 2027 model year?Related: Chevy and GMC HD Trucks Get the Punchier V8 Engines They Deserve2027 Chevy Silverado HD Pricing2027 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HDChevroletChevrolet has only announced pricing for the Silverado 2500 HD for now, with the lower three trims all receiving a $1,000 price bump.Trim2026 MSRP2027 MSRPWT$46,200$47,200Custom$49,500$50,500LT$52,900$53,900LTZ$63,600$64,900ZR2$73,500$74,900High Country$73,900$75,400The High Country is now $1,500 more expensive, which is the biggest price increase applied to any trim level. These prices all exclude Chevy's destination charge of $2,795. We expect pricing for the even more capable Silverado 3500 HD to be revealed imminently.By comparison, Ford charges $46,125 for the base F-250 XL, so it's a bit cheaper. However, the Silverado HD's new 6.6-liter V8 has the most standard torque in its class at 472 lb-ft, beating the Ford F-250's 7.3L V8's 445 lb-ft. The mighty 8.3L turbodiesel V8 from Chevy is available for all 2500 HD trims, but it'll add $11,400 to the base price. Ford, meanwhile, charges $12,495 for its Power Stroke diesel on the base F-250, so upgrading to diesel power is cheaper for Chevy buyers. What's New For The 2027 Silverado HD2027 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HDChevroletThe upgraded engines highlight the 2027 Silverado HD pickups. The new 6.6-liter V8 gas engine now produces 412 hp and 472 lb-ft, thanks to changes like a revised intake manifold, an upgraded lubrication system, and new emissions hardware. This engine is paired with the 10-speed Allison automatic transmission on all models. The new 8.3-liter Duramax V8 turbodiesel is the powertrain to go for to unlock peak towing capabilities. It produces 555 hp and 1,230 lb-ft of torque, class-best figures that allow Silverado HD trucks to tow up to 38,000 lbs with a gooseneck trailer. This engine uses a compacted graphite iron cylinder block, a forged crankshaft, steel pistons, and forged connecting rods. As with the gas mill, it uses the 10-speed Allison automatic transmission.Other improvements include a segment-first rack-and-pinion electric power steering system, an electronic brake-boost system, and recalibrated driving modes.Related: Ford Vs. Chevrolet Vs. Ram: The HD Diesel War Has A New LeaderWhat It Means2027 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HDChevroletThe fight for supremacy in the heavy-duty pickup segment will continue for another year, following the latest updates from Ford and Chevrolet. Ford is still the towing king, with its F-450 able to haul up to 40,000 lbs, but the Silverado's diesel is now the most potent engine in this class, and the two pickups remain closely priced. The key differentiator will be in how refined and responsive each truck feels when towing close to its maximum, something we look forward to evaluating in the coming months. The question now is: Have Detroit's biggest automakers reached the limits of diesel performance in this class, or is there more to come next year?Related: Ford Vs Chevrolet Reliability: One Clear Winner, But It's Not Pretty
