Mazda UK and Mission Motorsport have unveiled a third poppy "art car," this time wrapping a 1995 Mk1 Mazda MX-5 in a one-off remembrance livery ahead of the 2026 Race of Remembrance, according to Mazda UK's press release via Newspress. The car is Mazda UK's 1.8-liter heritage MX-5, and it was revealed at the 2026 Race of Remembrance Media Day at Thruxton Circuit. It follows the 2015 Mk4 MX-5 race car and the 2024 MX-30 R-EV course car, both of which carried poppy designs created by Mission Motorsport's vehicle wrap team. The new livery was designed and applied by that same team, using the original MX-5's shape as the canvas.Image: Mazda UK / NewspressA Long-Running PartnershipMazda UK has supported Mission Motorsport since the charity's founding in 2012, and it has backed the Race of Remembrance since the event began more than a decade ago. Mission Motorsport Managing Director Alex Atherton called the new car "a powerful symbol of that enduring partnership," adding that it was fitting to build it on "one of the most iconic Mazda road cars of all time."Mazda Motors UK Managing Director Jeremy Thomson described the livery as "a sobering reminder of the sacrifices and bravery of our service personnel and their families."The choice of car makes sense. The first-generation roadster has become a favorite among collectors, and we've been following that surge closely, from a preserved 1991 Miata to a no-reserve 1995 Miata M-Edition that shows why clean 1990s Japanese cars are booming. The poppy car uses the same 1995 model year. What to Expect at AngleseyThe 12th Race of Remembrance runs November 6-8 at Anglesey Circuit in North Wales. Teams compete over 12 hours across two days. Racing starts at 3 p.m. on Saturday and runs into darkness until 10 p.m. Cars and drivers are rested and repaired overnight, and racing resumes at 9 a.m. Sunday. At 11 a.m. on Sunday the circuit falls silent while more than 1,000 people pay their respects, and then racing resumes through to the finish. The MX-5 poppy car will be on display all weekend and will take part in demonstration laps. Before and after the event, the car will tour the U.K. for motoring and veterans' events in support of the Armed Forces community. The event raises money for Mission Motorsport, which provides respite, rehabilitation, vocational training and support to veterans, and helps service leavers find careers in the automotive industry.Fans of the model can also read about a Miata reimagined as a classic European roadster and a one-owner Marina Green Miata M-Edition.⚡️ Read the full article on Motorious
