A man who says he struggled to buy the car of his dreams is now crediting his followers with helping him land both a vehicle he likes and a dealership he trusts. Nick from Nick's Right Podcast (@nicksrightpodcastclips) had previously shared that he’d had a bad experience at a Toyota dealership. After posting about it, he said followers pointed him toward another one in nearby Prosper, Texas. "I got hooked up with the top salesperson," Nick says. According to Nick, the salesperson, Tony, helped him secure a vehicle but had to pivot during the process. Instead of an SUV, Nick ultimately purchased a sedan. "He found me a 2022 Toyota Avalon Hybrid, blacked out, all leather… for 25 flat," Nick says, adding that he’d been pre-approved for $26,000. He contrasted the experience with another dealership, which he said advertised a car for $26,900 but later add-ons brought the total to nearly $35,100. "No add-ons here. No hassle. I barely spent any time in the dealership," Nick says, praising the Prosper location he visited. "Prosper of Toyota! Best car dealership in the United States!" he wrote in the text overlay of his clip. As of this writing, the video has garnered more than 94,200 views. How To Spot A Reputable Car Dealership Transparency is usually the first real sign you’re dealing with a reputable dealership. Sellers who are open about a car’s history, condition, and pricing tend to separate themselves pretty quickly. That often shows up in small ways, such as offering a vehicle history report without prompting or clearly explaining past maintenance or accident records. Price is another gut check. Most legitimate dealerships stay within market value rather than luring buyers with unrealistically low prices. Many shoppers will compare listings against common valuation tools to ensure the deal aligns. Online reviews can also be a useful gut check. Patterns tend to emerge pretty quickly when a dealership is consistently delivering a good experience, or when it isn’t. And the in-person visit matters just as much. Staff who know the inventory and take time to answer questions without pushing a decision tend to signal a more straightforward buying process. The same goes for test drives and inspections. Dealerships that are fine with outside mechanics taking a look generally aren’t worried about what they’ll find. There are smaller tells, too, such as the condition of the lot, how the cars are organized, and even how up-to-date the website is. Manufacturer ties or industry certifications can also offer some reassurance, especially on the used-car side, where buyers are looking for extra proof that the inventory’s been vetted. At the same time, keep an eye out for obvious red flags. Dealerships that try to push financing before you’ve even settled on a car or can’t clearly break down pricing often give people a reason to walk. Viewers Praise Prosper, Texas Dealership Turns out, Nick isn’t the only content creator who says he’s bought a car from the Prosper-based Toyota dealership—and he’s far from alone in giving it rave reviews. One satisfied customer pointed to the store’s broader reputation. "That Toyota dealership there and Ford dealership in Prosper are both top-notch when it comes to sales and service appointments," they shared. Another viewer highlighted a recent purchase of their own. "I purchased my 4Runner Trailhunter from them, and I was very pleased with my purchase experience," a woman recalled. A different commenter said the dealership has been their go-to for years. "I buy all my cars from them! Great dealership, My guy retired," they noted, before adding, "Shoutout to Edwin! Tony, you may be my new guy for the future!" One person compared the experience favorably to other sellers. "I had the exact same experience," they said. "Longo was way different than the other dealerships." Several viewers zeroed in on Tony specifically, applauding his role in helping Nick secure the vehicle. "[Great] job, Tony!" one message read. Another viewer said Tony had worked with them before, claiming he sold them "a 4Runner years ago." They added it was the "best car buying experience EVER!" "TONNNNYYY MY GUY," another poster exclaimed. Some even joked they would travel long distances to work with him. "Flying to Texas just to buy a Toyota from Tony," one commenter quipped. "Looking up how long my drive will be from San Antonio, TX to buy a truck LOL," another added. In an email to Motor1, Nick said his experience at Longo Toyota of Prosper was "absolutely amazing." He noted that while he usually expects dealership visits to be all-day events, he was "in and out in about 20 minutes, and the entire experience was smooth and efficient." "More importantly, I was treated like a human being the whole time," he continued. "There was no pressure, no games — just professionalism and respect. Honestly, it felt more like royalty treatment than a typical dealership visit." He said he knew he had to visit the dealership after several followers referred him to it. He called ahead of his visit, and a worker told him they could meet all his conditions and simply wanted the chance to earn his business. "They did exactly that," he said. "I won’t be buying another vehicle from any other dealership. Longo Toyota of Prosper has earned my business from now on." We want your opinion! What would you like to see on Motor1.com?
