Therefore, as soon as the road opened up, I punched it to show Mark how incredibly quick these electric luxury cars are.“Holy shit!” Yep. Holy shit. No engine noise, no gear shifts—just instant, seamless acceleration that makes you rethink what fast feels like.But speed isn’t the whole story. The Lucid stays planted through corners, even on less-than-ideal pavement, and the suspension and braking are very well tuned. It takes a few minutes to get the hang of one-pedal driving, but you can adjust the level of regenerative braking to suit your style. This is especially useful in stop-and-go traffic where the Lucid makes inching forward feel almost serene.Luxury Without Trying Too Hard2025 Lucid Air Grand Touring isn’t a car that beats you over the head with opulence—it's like a really nice hotel room that doesn’t feel the need to show off. It’s more like a really nice hotel room that doesn’t feel the need to show off. The front seats are heated, cooled and endlessly adjustable. Our tester had the optional front massaging seats and, let me tell you, those massagers are no joke. They really get in there. (“It’s really rubbing my butt!” exclaimed my wife. I noticed she didn’t turn it off.) The rear seats? Also pretty plush, though they don’t recline like the ones in the higher-end Dream Edition. Still, passengers won’t be complaining. Overall, interior materials are top-notch and the cabin has an impressive sense of openness and space—even with four adults in the car. Visibility is excellent, the ride is soft without being floaty, and the noise isolation is among the best we’ve experienced in any EV or gas-powered luxury sedan. Whether cruising at 70 mph or crawling through a construction zone, the Air keeps wind and road noise at bay. That silence only makes the occasional burst of acceleration feel more dramatic.Tech: A Few Quirks, but Plenty to Like2025 Lucid Air Grand Touring digital dashboard looks great and works well—most of the time. There are still a few too many taps required to adjust basic functions, and occasionally the screen can lag a bit. Below that is the retractable Pilot Panel touchscreen, which gives you access to climate controls, seat settings, and navigation. It looks great and works well—most of the time. There are still a few too many taps required to adjust basic functions, and occasionally the screen can lag a bit.Native navigation is solid, and Lucid’s route planning does a decent job of accounting for charger locations, though it doesn’t feel quite as polished as Tesla’s setup.One thing we did appreciate: Lucid’s driver-assistance suite. It’s not fully hands-free, but the adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping are among the least annoying we’ve tested. It doesn’t beep constantly or get overly clingy with lane boundaries. It just works—quietly and effectively.Charging is quick if you find the right station. The Grand Touring supports up to 350 kW fast charging, and when you can plug into something that fast, it’ll charge up to 200 miles in 12 minutes. Range is also a strong point: Lucid estimates 512 miles on a full charge. While we didn’t put that to the test end-to-end, our mix of freeway, suburban, and enthusiastic canyon driving didn’t put much of a dent in it. Range anxiety just wasn’t a factor.Final Thoughts The Lucid Air Grand Touring is for people who want their luxury electric sedan to be fast, comfortable, and smart—but not loud about it. It doesn’t rely on gimmicks or wild design choices. It just delivers. It makes speed feel civilized. It makes long drives feel short. And it makes most other cars feel a little behind the times.Driving Mark in this EV also really helped put things in perspective. The Lucid didn’t just impress—it redefined what he thought a car could do. And after a week behind the wheel, I get it.
