You may have thought we'd have a break from Hyundai teasers now that the New York Auto Show is over. Instead, the company already has another one out. It's also another teaser with rocks in the air. This time, though, it seems to be teasing two vehicles, and it's both more and less cryptic than the last one. Hyundai At Least Narrowed It Down This teaser kicks off with an amber-colored gemstone hurtling through the air, headed straight for red, rocky ground. It lands (sort of) leaving a massive impact. We suspect that's a not-so-subtle indication of what Hyundai hopes the reveal will do. You can see the brief video in its entirety above. HyundaiHyundai does spell out a few things for us. The teaser video highlights two concepts coming up, one named for Venus, and the other for Earth. Based on the red ground and amber stone, this teaser seems to be focused on the Venus concept. We also noticed that for a moment toward the end of the video, one of the facets on the gemstone is highlighted while everything around it goes dim. We suspect that facet is a rough silhouette of the Venus concept. That shape looks low, long, angular, and sleek. The upper part, which we would assume to be the roof, isn't particularly long. Perhaps we could be looking at a coupe? According to Britannica, the Roman goddess Venus, who became associated with the Greek goddess Aphrodite, came to represent love and beauty. She has also been represented in many famous works of art. When it comes to cars, coupes and sports cars are often among the first to be associated with great beauty and artistic lines. On top of that, Hyundai says this vehicle has "a form that stands unmistakably apart, defined by its best in first impression presence."Hyundai did give us one other clear hint as to what these concepts will be. The trailer ends with the Ioniq logo. So we know the Venus and the Earth concepts will both be electric and will preview upcoming Ioniq models.Hyundai The Earth Is Mysterious And Potentially Important We've spent most of this post talking about the Venus, and that's because this teaser seems to only be about that model. Nothing struck us as Earth-like. We're betting that Hyundai will have another teaser in the future for that model.Until then, all we have to go on is that it'll be an Ioniq. That means it may have a number associated with it, and those numbers roughly indicate size. We already have Ioniq 5, 6, 9, and soon, 3. Respectively, those represent a midsize hatchback or crossover, a midsize sedan, a large SUV, and a compact hatchback or crossover. Odd numbers so far are for utility vehicles, and the sole even number is for a sedan.HyundaiBased on the car market, some kind of SUV would seem the most likely for Hyundai to design and release, especially if Venus is some kind of coupe-like vehicle. There's also clearly a slot for an Ioniq 7 that could be a more traditional SUV that's not as big as the 9. Hyundai could even endow it with a bit of off-road capability, which seems to be something it's interested in with the recent Crater and Boulder concepts, as well as its work on a midsize pickup truck. Perhaps a future teaser will give us more to go on.
