Fresh from launching the long-awaited Prelude, Honda is bringing several new vehicles to the Japan Mobility Show (JMS) on October 29 as it continues its transition to electric mobility. Key to this are two cars that are set to bring its newest electric technologies to a wider audience.

The forthcoming 0 Series, currently comprising of a futuristic streamlined “sedan” and a large SUV, will be joined by a third model, previewed by a concept at the event. The carmaker says the car will “enable more people to feel the value of the Honda 0 Series,” hinting at an entry-level positioning.

No details have been revealed just yet, but the car should share the new Asimo OS, Level 3 semi-autonomous driving capability and dedicated electric platform of its siblings. It is one of seven new 0 Series models planned to be launched by 2030, but given that the first one, the larger 0 SUV, is only set to go on sale next year, expect this one to be a bit further out.

The as-yet-unnamed 0 Series model will be joined by a compact EV prototype, a development of the Super EV Concept shown at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) earlier this year. This tiny hatchback, based on the N-One e: kei car already sold in Japan, is being road tested with the aim to develop a “fun to drive” production model for markets such as Japan, Europe and Asia. Hopefully Malaysia is one of them.

Other world premieres include an electric motorcycle and an e-MTB electrically-assisted bicycle, as well as an intriguing “sustainable rocket” – part of Honda “taking on challenges which extend beyond the Earth and into outer space,” it says. Also on display will be the aforementioned Prelude and N-One e:.

Last but not least is the CR-V e:HEV, which will make its return to Japan some two years after it was discontinued there in favour of the ZR-V. Its reintroduction could coincide with the arrival of a facelifted model, but we’ll have to wait and see.
