A woman says she almost left a Discount Tire with a new set of tires and a warranty without noticing anything wrong. Then she checked her receipt and realized a key detail was way off. In her video, which has racked up over 663,400 views, TikTok creator Maddy (@maddybingbong) explains that the new tires came with a "60,000-mile warranty." The pitch sounded good: if anything happened, she could go to any branch in the country and get a replacement free. However, when she returned to her car and checked the fine print, she noticed something strange. The paperwork listed her car’s mileage as 65,457. In reality, she says, the odometer read 84,044 miles. That’s roughly 20,000 miles off. "So I went in and I said, hi…the mileage is really off by 20,000 … for the warranty," she says in the clip. When an employee looked at the receipt, he allegedly responded, "Oh, I must have fat-fingered it." Maddy doesn’t buy the excuse. "If you ever get new tires and you have a warranty," she warns viewers, "make sure you look at your receipt and make sure your odometer miles are actually correct because I’m not getting [expletive] over today, and neither are you." What Do Other Drivers Say About Discount Tire Warranty? On Reddit and other forums, drivers share mixed experiences: some say the warranty works, while others say it’s a gamble. One self-described delivery driver wrote that he replaced every tire on his car four times under a "road hazard" plan. He cautioned that the warranty might cover the damage if nails or rough roads cause it. But if a tire wears out from normal wear and tear, "they won’t patch it," he wrote. Another user said he bought protection certificates for four tires at $38 each. Over a short time, rough terrain in Arizona destroyed three tires beyond repair. The warranty covered them. He paid about $270 in total and had three new tires installed. His verdict: "It worked out for me." Then some say the warranty pitch feels more like a sales tool. "It’s just one of those things they push on you," one commenter wrote. "Could it be worth it? Yeah, for sure. But most likely no." He shrugged at the idea of paying extra for tires that cost only $120 each. Is Discount Tire’s Warranty Worth It? Whether it’s worth it depends entirely on you and your needs. Discount Tire offers what it calls a certificate for repair, refund, or replacement on many tire purchases. Under that certificate, a tire damaged by a road hazard, such as a nail, glass, or other debris, may qualify for a free repair or, if it cannot be safely repaired, a replacement or refund. The coverage does not apply to normal wear and tear. If a tire becomes too worn down from regular use, the certificate does not replace it. Coverage also depends on the tire still meeting minimum tread depth requirements at the time of damage. In short, the certificate is meant to protect against unexpected road damage, not routine tire aging or gradual wear. If you’re buying tires with warranty coverage: Always check the odometer on your car at purchase and compare it to the paperwork. Take photos of the odometer and the receipt. Read the warranty terms carefully—know what counts as "wear and tear" versus "damage." Keep documentation if you ever need to claim. Commenters React Many viewers shared their own experiences and opinions about Discount Tire and tire warranties in general. "Discount Tire literally scammed me a month ago for replacement tires. Straight up scam and now they are intentionally avoiding me," one commenter alleged. "Costco is the only way to go," another said. "I say honest mistake. Discount Tire is top tier," one person added. "It’s crazy. If you steal from a corporation it’s criminal, but when they steal from you it’s civil. The system is rigged against us," another wrote.
