Chery has a massive presence at Setia City Convention Centre (SCCC) at the ongoing paultan.org Auto Car Expo (ACE), co-sponsored by Carro and Kärcher. In addition to its Omoda & Jaecoo and iCaur spin-offs, its main brand is also parading its comprehensively overhauled lineup at the show. Front and centre are the Tiggo 7 and 8 PHEVs, launched last month. Priced at RM129,800 and RM159,800 respectively, the five- and seven-seater SUVs are powered by the new Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) system, consisting of a 204 PS/310 Nm electric motor, a 143 PS/215 Nm 1.5 litre turbo four-cylinder engine and a single-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT) connecting the two. The petrol mill functions mostly as a generator but can also help drive the front wheels at higher speeds through a lock-up clutch, resulting in a total system output of 279 PS and 365 Nm of torque. An 18.3 kWh BYD-sourced lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery delivers an WLTP-rated pure electric range of 90 km and a total range of 1,200 km for both. Also on display is the O5, the facelifted version of the Omoda 5. Priced at RM116,800, this B-segment SUV gets a cleaner-looking front fascia, a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (replacing the previous CVT) and multilink rear suspension (replacing a torsion beam). The 1.5 litre turbo four is unchanged and produces 156 PS and 230 Nm. Last but certainly not least is the compact Tiggo Cross, a capable rival to the likes of the Proton X50 and Perodua Ativa. Power comes from either a 147 PS/210 Nm 1.5 litre turbo and six-speed DCT combo or a non-plug-in version of the CSH system, using a less powerful 102 PS/125 Nm naturally-aspirated engine. It’s competitively priced at RM88,800 for the turbo petrol and RM99,800 for the Hybrid. At ACE 2025, Chery is offering a RM1,000 rebate and a special gift set worth RM250 with every booking. Plus, every visitor will receive door gifts worth RM20, as well as another RM40 in gifts with every test drive.
