'Can You Name This?:' Man Says That 1 Feature Is All You Need to See to Know the Make and Model of This ‘Classic Car’

A viral Facebook video has put an unusual Range Rover cupholder design under the spotlight. The clip, shared by The Fast Lane Car, asked viewers if they could identify the vehicle based solely on its quirky cupholders and a limited look at the interior.

Hidden Cupholders in the Center Console

At the start of the video, the presenter searches for the car’s cupholders in the center console. When the lid is lifted, none are visible. But once the console is raised completely, four cupholders are revealed, mounted on the underside of the lid.

This unique design allows the console’s top piece to be pulled outward and rotated 180 degrees. The armrest then transforms into a four-cup holder. With a simple pivot, the holders lock into place and can later be folded back down, reverting the console to armrest mode.

Viewer Reactions and Criticism

Many commenters quickly guessed the vehicle was a Range Rover, pointing to details like the seat piping. Others confirmed this observation, sparking a discussion about the brand’s unconventional design approach.

On enthusiast forums such as RangeRovers.net, the cupholder solution has drawn criticism. Some users called it unnecessarily complicated compared to a standard design. Others mentioned difficulties repairing the mechanism, claiming that removing the spring was the only way to use the holders if they broke.

Owners also reported that the cupholders sometimes fail to stay closed while driving. Another concern raised was practicality—using the cupholders blocks access to the console storage and takes away the main armrest.

Comfort vs. Build Quality

Some drivers noted that the Range Rover’s fold-down, adjustable seat armrests compensate for the missing console armrest. Still, a few pointed out squeaky noises in the video, suggesting the materials felt cheap for a premium SUV.

Not all feedback was negative. While the cupholder design drew plenty of complaints, several praised the Range Rover’s full-hide Connolly leather seats, calling them some of the most comfortable and luxurious in the industry.
