I've been following this guy for quite some time now because he comes up with some pretty wicked concepts and reimaginings. Some brands love that he's challenging the design departments of names like Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha, or BMW, but this time around, he got "caught" by the thought police, so to speak.A Ferrari Motorcycle? Why Not?Back in 2024, Lee asked, "What if Ferrari built motorcycles?" He called it the Ferrari Barracuda, and it looked sick. To me, it looks like a cross between a Ducati Panigale V4, mixed in with Ferrari's SF90 or Purosangue, and perhaps some Amalfi. If Ferrari were to make a motorcycle, it would probably not be a Ducati, however, because Lamborghini has that 'Ducat' out of the bag already.AdvertisementAdvertisementThis is not the first time that Ferrari has had to deal with a motorcycle. In 1952, another brand caught the ire of Signore Enzo Ferrari. That two-wheeler brand was also called Ferrari, which led several inquiries reaching Maranello about a product that never crossed Ferrari's mind. Being a young brand, the Prancing Horse had to defend itself and called upon its (now powerful) legal team to defend the Ferrari name. The motorcycle brand had to be renamed to Fratello Ferrari (Ferrari Brothers), and thus became a footnote in history.Ferrari also had a history with motorcycles. Early on, in 1932, Enzo Ferrari raced two-wheelers under Scuderia Ferrari, but that ship has long since sailed after Enzo decided to focus on his legend in the four-wheeled space.kardesignkonceptsView the 4 images of this gallery on the original articleDeletedKind of like Fratello Ferrari, Kar Lee was told to take down his post. Scrolling all the way back to 2024, he had to click the delete button, but not before he made a follow-up post with all the Ferrari logos removed. According to his most recent update, "Ferrari (was) concerned about the use of their branding on a concept from a designer that looked believable and official."AdvertisementAdvertisementIt's extremely high praise for a designer to receive such acknowledgment from a legendary automaker, but at the same time, it's a big drag, given that it's a cease-and-desist order. Hats off to Kar Lee for making such a great concept, one that was good enough to grab Ferrari's attention two years later.Lee's post actually went viral, with several news outlets and content creators covering it. According to his metrics, there were about 203,000 likes, 686 comments, and 1,162 reshares on Instagram alone. Lee also stated that across his other pages, he had accumulated "over 350,000 likes in total with thousands of comments."It looks like the post's virality prompted Ferrari's legal team to take action. Lee said that he "was disappointed," but he was understanding. It's a bit of a backhanded compliment here, as other graphic designers have tried their hand at creating a motorcycle concept inspired by Ferrari. It just so happens that Lee's post was successful enough to make Ferrari worry, perhaps similar to how Fratello Ferrari ruffled Signore Ferrari's feathers all those years ago.kardesignkonceptsView the 3 images of this gallery on the original articleAdvertisementAdvertisementThis story was originally published by Autoblog on Jun 20, 2026, where it first appeared in the News section.
