To some extent, that is true, partly because their body-on-frame construction and suspension systems are designed for workhorse duties. However, automakers have evolved their trucks to offer trims and options that prioritize comfort. For the 2027 model year, Chevrolet is making the Colorado more livable by adding a new six-way power-adjustable front passenger seat. This was reported by GM Authority, citing sources, which also mentioned that a new engine is on the way. The power-adjustable passenger seat will be a first for the nameplate's current generation, although it will not be available on every trim.ChevroletTwo Paths Up the Colorado LineupThe report states that only the Z71 and ZR2 will offer the new six-way power-adjustable front passenger seat. These are two of the Colorado's higher trims, but they serve different purposes. The Z71 balances everyday comfort with off-road capability, while the ZR2 is designed for more serious off-roading and trail use.AdvertisementAdvertisementThe feature will be available as part of the optional Convenience Package III. As standard, every 2027 Colorado trim – including the WT, LT, Trail Boss, Z71, and ZR2 – will receive a four-way manually adjustable front passenger seat.Sure, it is not a major comfort upgrade compared with, say, massaging seats or suspension refinements. However, it still brings added convenience, including power lumbar control that could help reduce fatigue on long drives. Passengers will also be able to adjust the seat fore and aft electrically instead of using a manual lever.ChevroletThere's More Than a Seat Update HereAs mentioned earlier, the 2027 Chevrolet Colorado is also reportedly getting a new engine: a turbocharged 2.7-liter L4B inline-four. It will replace the current 2.7-liter turbocharged L3B, which produces 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque, although output figures for the new engine have not been disclosed. In the same vein, the Colorado's bigger truck sibling, the Silverado, is set to introduce two of General Motors' new Gen 6 small-block V8 engines.Production of the 2027 Colorado is expected to begin in October, but pricing has not yet been announced. For reference, the outgoing 2026 model starts at $32,400 for the no-nonsense WT trim, while the flagship ZR2 starts at $50,700. Both prices exclude destination charges.ChevroletView the 3 images of this gallery on the original articleAdvertisementAdvertisementThis story was originally published by Autoblog on Aug 10, 2026, where it first appeared in the News section.
