The upgrade improves downforce during track mode or high-speed driving above 150 km/h and can be completed at service centers in about two to three hours. On March 10, Xiaomi Auto announced that it will offer a free front-compartment aerodynamic upgrade for SU7 Ultra vehicles equipped with the optional “carbon fiber dual-channel hood.” According to the company, vehicle owners can schedule the upgrade through the Xiaomi Auto app, the customer service hotline or dedicated owner service groups, and complete the installation at Xiaomi Auto service centers. Xiaomi Auto’s announcement for free aerodynamic upgrade for SU7 Ultra with carbon fiber hood The upgrade process is expected to take about two to three hours. The newly installed hardware will be covered under the vehicle’s remaining warranty period and will not affect future after-sales service coverage. The upgrade introduces two additional pairs of aerodynamic blades that work in coordination with the active grille system to intelligently manage airflow through the front compartment. After updating the vehicle software to the latest version, the system will enable directional airflow management in track mode or during high-speed driving conditions, such as speeds above 150 km/h. This helps increase downforce at high speeds, although energy consumption may rise accordingly. The upgrade details The SU7 Ultra is currently Xiaomi Auto’s highest-performance production model. The mass-production version was unveiled in February 2025 and offers the carbon fiber dual-channel hood as an optional feature across the lineup. The vehicle is priced at RMB 529,900 ($76,670). The original design goal of the configuration was to enhance aerodynamic performance at high speeds. However, the feature sparked controversy shortly after the model’s launch. In May 2025, Xiaomi Auto issued a statement and apology regarding questions surrounding the SU7 Ultra carbon fiber dual-channel hood. The company offered customers with undelivered orders a limited-time option to switch back to a standard aluminum hood. Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Later in October 2025, Xiaomi announced it would provide a free aerodynamic upgrade for owners who had selected the configuration, and the current rollout represents the formal implementation of that commitment. From a market perspective, the SU7 Ultra’s sales trajectory has shown a strong start followed by a decline. After deliveries began in March 2025, the model recorded more than 3,000 deliveries in its first month, but demand gradually weakened thereafter. Although total deliveries reached about 15,700 units for the full year of 2025, monthly deliveries fell to just 45 units by December. At the end of January this year, several Xiaomi Auto sales representatives disclosed that the dedicated sales team for the SU7 Ultra had been officially disbanded, reportedly as part of a broader effort to optimize resource allocation. At the current stage, Xiaomi Auto’s sales focus remains on the new-generation SU7 lineup and upcoming new models.
