The network includes both CCS and NACS connectors, and most of the locations include 8 to 16 charging stalls, with chargers that can deliver up to 400 kW."When a customer pulls into a Walmart to charge, we want the experience to feel as reliable and effortless as the rest of their shopping trip," said Adam Happel, General Manager, Walmart Retail EV Charging. "We're proud to reach 100 sites, but our focus remains on building a network customers can count on every time they charge with us."Dive Insight:In 2023, Walmart confirmed plans for its own EV fast-charging network, with aims for "thousands of Walmart and Sam's Club locations coast-to-coast" by 2030. The retailer installed its first Walmart-branded charging station in April 2025, but even at 100 locations today there are more Walmart locations hosting Volkswagen Group's Electrify America network than its own.AdvertisementAdvertisementThe Arkansas-based retailer says that it will keep expanding to markets "where customers need greater access to convenient, dependable fast charging, working closely with local utilities." It has said that it has a store or club located within 10 miles of approximately 90% of Americans.It's also not been growing at the rapid pace of another newcomer: Ionna. Announced in 2024, launched in 2025, and supported primarily by eight founding automakers — BMW, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes-Benz, Stellantis, and Toyota — Ionna already had more than 120 locations as of July, and it recently topped the Tesla Supercharger network in satisfaction.For now, the Walmart network appears to be aiming for its existing customer base. Customers can initiate charging and pay for it via the Walmart app, and the retailer notes that its Walmart+ members get discounted charging rates. Other payment options are planned as the network expands, the company says. For now EV drivers can find locations via a Walmart EV charging website or through mapping partners like PlugShare, Chargeway, Chargehub, Apple Maps, and Google Maps.Walmart isn't the only large retailer that's decided in recent years to embrace fast-charging with its own brand name behind it.
