RR Spectre Series II Boasts More Range and PowerRolls-Royce (Rolls-Royce)Four years have passed since the Spectre became the first Rolls-Royce EV to hit the streets. The luxury automaker has apparently decided that was long enough for the original version, so on Tuesday, Goodwood announced the newly updated Spectre Series II. The changes go beyond simple visual tweaks, however; the Series II comes with increased range, a reduced charging time, more power—and more customization options than ever before. The Spectre Series II has a maximum electric driving range of 390 miles under the WLTP cycle, an 18 percent improvement over the original car. Rolls-Royce also claims that charging times have been reduced by 14 percent. The Black Badge Spectre Series II also just so happens to becomes the most powerful Rolls-Royce ever created, packing up to 670 horsepower and 811 foot-pounds of torque. (The company has certainly come a long way from the days of advertising their power ratings as simply “adequate.”)Rolls-Royce (Rolls-Royce)Perhaps even more important to the relevant buyers are the additional bespoke options available. To satisfy clients' appetite for ever-more-individualized creations, the Spectre Series II introduces an expanded palette of meticulously crafted materials, finishes, and bespoke design options. One highlight is the debut of Duality Twill, a bamboo-derived fabric inspired by the French Riviera featuring intricate embroidery that can require up to 2.6 million stitches and 25 hours to complete. Buyers can choose from more than 50 thread colors and several fabric shades, including a new sage green.Tom Bunning (Tom Bunning)Rolls-Royce also introduces Placed Perforation leather featuring artistic patterns inspired by moonlit clouds, a new Brindled Walnut veneer with a shimmering layered finish, and an illuminated fascia containing more than 8000 individual lights. Rounding out the updates is a new aviation-inspired clock and an illuminated Spirit of Ecstasy display integrated into the dashboard.AdvertisementAdvertisementRolls-Royce has left the Spectre's acclaimed fastback silhouette largely untouched for Series II, adding only a new Ethereal Blue exterior finish to highlight its lines. New 23-inch forged alloy wheels feature a faceted multi-spoke design, with each hand-finished wheel taking up to six hours to complete.Tom Bunning (Tom Bunning)The Black Badge Spectre Series II, in turn, features a darker, more aggressive look thanks to new Iced Black exterior detailing that gives much of the brightwork a satin-like matte finish. New open-spoke wheels—available in Iced Matte Black for the first time—aim to further enhance the EV's imposing presence.According to Rolls-Royce, the Spectre is typically the second Rolls-Royce in a typical owner’s seven-car garage, and it's driven 4000 miles per year, on average. Thanks to the enhancements in the Spectre Series II, I'm willing to bet that annual mileage figure is likely going to increase. You Might Also LikeIf You Can Only Own One Car, Make It One of TheseThese Are the Most Popular Cars by State
