In what appears to be a first for the U.S., Mansory's local division has built the country's first armored Rolls-Royce Cullinan featuring an invisible B4 ballistic armor package capable of stopping .44 Magnum rounds. The vehicle has been certified for this level of protection after successfully undergoing live-fire testing. Before the build was completed, Mansory put the Cullinan's reinforced doors and ballistic glass through live-fire testing using 9mm, .357 Magnum, and .44 Magnum ammunition. The protective components withstood all three calibers without failing, according to a report by Motor1. Mansory confirmed this in a statement:"The armored glass and reinforced doors were tested under direct ballistic fire before the final execution."AdvertisementAdvertisementThe armor was only one element of the build. Much like its earlier Rolls-Royce projects, Mansory combined the added protection with an aggressive visual makeover. The Cullinan features Mansory's familiar styling cues, including a redesigned front bumper with larger air intakes, a new front splitter, modified side skirts, and widened wheel arch extensions.Image Credit: Mansory USA / InstagramWhile the standard 2027 Cullinan tips the scales at 6,173 lbs, Mansory says its ballistic package adds around 300 lbs, making it relatively lightweight for an armored SUV. Many conventional armored vehicles gain considerably more weight from their protective equipment, which can have a greater impact on acceleration, handling, and braking performance. The relatively small weight increase should help the armored Cullinan retain much of its performance. The Cullinan's twin-turbocharged 6.75-liter V12 helps offset the performance impact of the added weight. In standard form, Rolls-Royce rates the engine at 563 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque, allowing the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in roughly five seconds. Mansory has not disclosed how the armored conversion affects the Cullinan's performance. The company has yet to provide figures for the armored model. That leaves its real-world performance compared with the standard SUV unclear.AdvertisementAdvertisementThe armored Mansory Cullinan is based on the Black Badge, which offers more power than the standard model. Rolls-Royce rates the Black Badge at 600 PS and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft) of torque, giving the armored SUV additional performance reserves to help compensate for the added weight.Image Credit: Mansory USA / Instagram
