The Honda Fit's Return to USA, Sadly, Not ImminenthondaThe Honda Fit is long gone from American shores, but in the half a decade since the sub-compact left our market, its popularity has only grown. In spite of this, however, Honda likely won't be bringing the current-generation Fit here any time soon ... but the affordable market it represents has not been forgotten by the company's U.S. branch, either.When asked about the potential return of the Fit in a recent roundtable, American Honda sales executive Lance Woelfer cited a strong need in the short term for affordable products, telling Road & Track that "there's a lot of customer interest in additional products from American Honda. I think from an affordability standpoint, we're pretty well positioned with the Civic. And with the HR-V. It gives us great entry-level products that consumers, basically, want more than we can build; there's definitely demand, and we can increase capacity."Nevertheless, he wouldn't rule anything out. "I think there's opportunity there; it's always something we can consider and look at."The current-gen Honda Fit / Jazz, not sold in America.HondaWoelfer said the brand is "looking at everything," but stresses that he thinks the company is "in a good position" with its current affordable offerings. He specifically notes the success of the HR-V, which he says "became the natural progression for those customers who are buying a passenger car, with the market moving to eighty percent on the [crossover] side versus passenger car. We actually see most of those customers going to HR-V.
