Starting this month, Forest Green and Borealis purple—arguably the best exterior shades for the R2—are available in the online configurator.Forest Green is a $1,500 option, the same as the Half Moon Grey, which was already available. Meanwhile, the $2,000 Borealis is one of the most expensive optional colors, alongside Midnight black, Catalina Cove blue, and Launch Green. The R2 can also be specced in Glacier White, which costs $1,000, with Esker Silver still on the table as the standard color.Rivian R2 in Forest GreenForest Green is available on the Performance, Premium, and Standard Long Range R2s, while Borealis purple is reserved for the top-spec Performance. All this being said, it's worth remembering that Rivian's most affordable EV to date is still only available in the Performance version with the Launch Package, but that will change later this year, when the mid-tier Premium trim goes on sale later this year. It will be followed by the entry-level R2 Standard next spring.AdvertisementAdvertisementRivian said that the Forest Green exterior color was designed to have the same play of shadow and light you'd find walking in the forest. "Forest Green is the deep green of a canopy seen from below, with enough metallic flake in the paint to catch light the way leaves do when shifting with the wind," the company said in a blog post.As for the Coastal Cloud Signature interior, its lighter palette brings an open, airy feel to the cabin, whereas the standard Black Crater Signature is a bit more serious and restrained. Despite the lighter colors, Rivian said it's still durable for every adventure, thanks to the second-generation Advantex material that can be wiped down after messy drives. The white interior is only available on the Premium and Performance versions.Rivian R2 Coastal Cloud Signature interiorThe Rivian R2 Performance Launch Edition, the only model currently shipping, starts at $59,485. For the price, customers get a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive setup with 656 horsepower and an EPA-estimated 330 miles of range. The Launch pack also includes the Tow Package, a Launch key fob, and lifetime access to Rivian's Autonomy+ advanced driver assistance platform. The Premium trim, available later this year from $55,485, gets the same 330 miles of range, but power is down to 450 hp, and customers will need to pay extra for the Tow Package and Autonomy+. Meanwhile, the cheapest R2, the Standard Rear-Wheel Drive, will start rolling off the assembly line next summer with an estimated 275 miles of range and 350 hp. The entry-level R2 is priced from $46,485.More Rivian R2 StoriesRivian EVs Are Getting A Software Update That Makes It Easier To Dodge The CopsRivian Is Adding A Second Shift To The R2 Assembly Line.
