The Corvette E-Ray was a killer when it first showed up. Its hybrid drivetrain delivering 655 combined horsepower made it a stout alternative to the Z06, earning it a solid reputation as a supercar that everyone in the performance world would respect. It was quickly overshadowed by the ZR1X,when its hybrid powertrain showed out with a combined 1,250 horsepower, that made you forget all about the other electrified ‘Vette. The power just shifted back in favor of the E-Ray, though, as Specialty Vehicle Engineering dropped its Yenko Stage III package that blows the ZR1X out of the water. Crush The ZR1X In Yenko Fashion Specialty Vehicle EngineeringSpecialty Vehicle Engineering, or SVE, has been souping up the C8 for some time. It’s latest Stage III Yenko/SC® Twin Turbocharged E-Ray takes things up several notches. It helps the C8 crank out 1,564 horsepower, which is enough to make the ZR1X, the most powerful Corvette built to date, look like a child’s toy.The heart of the SVE Stage III Yenk/SC® Twin Turbocharged kit is a built 6.2-liter LT2 V8 engine. The foundation is an aluminum block with a forged crank, H-beam rods, and forged aluminum pistons. Up top is a set of CNC-machined cylinder heads, a custom-ground cam, and worked over valvetrain. ARP hardware holds it all together to ensure it doesn’t tear itself apart when you get after it.Induction is enhanced through twin Garrett 58mm ceramic ball bearing water-cooled turbochargers and all the supporting mods to keep the charge optimized, while a flex fuel system allows you to use E85 or pump gas. Behind it all is an upgraded stage III 8/9 dual clutch unit that ensures all that horsepower gets to the ground.Being a licensed Yenko/SC® kit, you get the proper livery to make this feel like a true legend ordered by the master himself for the coveted PA dealership that pumped out the baddest muscle cars of the 1960s. Yenko stripes, badged calipers, fender callouts, and even floormats to match make this look right at home among the iconic Yenko fleet. Stage 1 and 2 For Non-Hybrid Corvettes Specialty Vehicle EngineeringAs insane as the E-Ray Stage III kit is, the lower stages are still very potent configurations to consider. The Stage I, being the entry-level option, cranks out an insane 1,000 horsepower, boasting near-Z06 performance stats. Next up is the Stage II kit that directly rivals the ZR1X with the ability to crank out a whopping 1,250 horsepower. Both of those kits use the same 6.2-liter LT2 engine, complete with twin turbo systems. Both also feature legendary Yenko livery, giving buyers the ability to tap into that legendary Chevrolet heritage at performance levels that suit their demands. And A Warranty Specialty Vehicle EngineeringNo, these aren’t production Corvettes. However, while they technically don’t dethrone the ZR1X as a factory-offered car, they do deliver the protection you’d expect from something off the dealership floor. SVE backs the Stage III with a 3-year/36,000-mile warranty on the powertrain and turbochargers.Speaking of the dealer, only select dealers are offering any of these packages, and you’ll need to call SVE directly for more information if you're interested in learning more about pricing. That said, the plan is to limit Stage III kits to just 50 units, meaning you need to act fast if you want to harness the true power of the E-Ray.
