Forget about the factory-backed kits that take the super street truck to 900 hp; Hennessey has just announced the return of the Maximus name, and its goals are to extract over 1,000 ponies from the Rumble Bee's supercharged 6.2-liter V8 and make the truck capable of exceeding 200 mph. That's supercar speed in a vehicle with practically no weight over the rear axle, and frankly, it sounds terrifying. But that's why Hennessey is doing more than just upgrading the mechanical components under the hood.Hennessey Adds A New Supercharger And Loads Of Aero To Rumble BeeHennesseyHennessey says its Dodge Ram SRT-10-inspired Maximus monster will formally debut tomorrow, 8 August, during Roadkill Nights, which is on through the weekend. Visitors will be able to see the upgraded engine bay up close, including a bigger, 2.8-liter supercharger, a larger custom intake, a high-capacity intercooler, and 22x12-inch wheels wrapped in 325/40R22 performance rubber on all four corners. The Venom Aero kit also adds a beefy front splitter, new side skirts, and an impossible-to-miss wing atop the back of the truck, which can be removed when attempting to reach Vmax and is inspired by the 1999 Hennessey Dodge Viper Venom 650R. Naturally, this wing wouldn't work so well with turbulent air swirling around in the bed, even with 1,032 hp and 947 lb-ft of torque helping push the truck forward, so a retractable tonneau cover features to smooth the airflow.According to Mopar Insiders, the Maximus is estimated to do 0-60 mph in just 3.0 seconds flat (thank the standard four-wheel-drive system for that), and the quarter-mile should be done and dusted in just 10.9 seconds, or seven tenths quicker than the truck it's based on. Customers should still be able to access rear-drive mode, too, so eviscerating tires will be a cinch. There's nothing else quite like this, and that's awesome.Hennessey Maximus Coming In Early 2027HennesseyWhile the pre-production prototype in these images will be on display all weekend, production is only planned to begin in the first quarter of next year. And since this showcar is wrapped in a camouflage vinyl getup, some of the exterior details may change before its formal reveal.
