Singer, Louis Vutton Team Up on 2 Glamorous 911sSinger Vehicle DesignFor more than a decade now, the talented crew at Singer Vehicle Design has been whipping up some of the world's most remarkable restomodded—or as the builder prefers to call it, reimagined—Porsche 911s. Unlike many a Porsche shop, Singer sticks fairly tightly to its winning formula: it only uses 964-generation cars, and avoids the wretched excess and over-the-top designs that characterize too many custom builds. That elegant formula has won it plenty of fans in the luxury world—and made it an ideal partner for one Louis Vutton. And, as it so happens, it all started with a clock. Now, the idea of a Louis Vutton timepiece in a car's dash might seem a tad unusual, given the French fashion house is best known for leather pieces and extremely high-end luggage. That said, Louis Vutton has been in the watch business for decades.Singer Vehicle Design"This unique and remarkable adventure began with a request for a dashboard clock for a car reimagined by Singer," Louis Vuitton watch director Jean Arnault said in the announcement of the new cars. But, he added, "it quickly became apparent to us that this collaboration with Singer could extend to the personalization of every functional element of the vehicle."Singer Vehicle DesignAs you can see above, Singer and Louis Vutton had such a good time working together, they couldn't stop at one car; they had to build two. The first to be created was the saffron-colored carbon fiber-bodied coupe, which features cobalt blue accents and a delightfully vintage-looking roof rack to go with its 4.0-liter flat-six. Louis Vutton is known for leather, so it's no surprise that high-end cowskin coats a remarkable amount of the interior of both cars here, with the same type used for the handles of the brand's bags. Finely crafted metal switchgear is speckled thorough, all with the aim of recreating the feel of interacting with a fine watch anywhere your fingers adjust a control.Singer Vehicle DesignAnd the clock itself is worth discussing. It's a mechanical timepiece that slots into the right-most place of the 911's classic quintet of dials, next to the speedometer. (It's also removable, both in case you want to show it off at home and, y'know, to wind it since it's mechanical.) The rest of the gauges have also been redesigned to match the style of the clock, giving the instrument panel a more outgoing appearance than in a typical Porsche.Singer Vehicle DesignAdvertisementAdvertisementThe second car to be created, the white Turbo, is even more exotic. The carbon fiber-bodied convertible makes extensive use of wood as well as leather inside and out (the trim on the whale tail spoiler is particularly choice), with a classic motorboat-inspired wooden deck and a bespoke luggage compartment behind the seats. The soft top is also nautically inspired, to keep the theme going. In this car, the Louis Vutton clock lies in the center of the dash, mounted low near the shift lever.Singer Vehicle DesignOf course, each car comes with its own bespoke Louis Vutton capsule collection. Of course, the price is not public. And of course, both cars will show up in California at Monterey Car Week. You Might Also LikeIf You Can Only Own One Car, Make It One of TheseThese Are the Most Popular Cars by State
