Singer, Louis Vuitton Join to Reimagine Some 911sSingerSinger and Louis Vuitton revealed two very cool reimagined 911s in Monterey today. One is a Porsche 911 coupe reimagined by Singer that sports an exclusive livery of Louis Vuitton's iconic saffron, cobalt blue, and yellow colors. The second is a cabrio conceived by Louis Vuitton's Artistic Director of Women's Collections Nicolas Ghesquière, finished in a color called Calcaire Lutétien white, and "complemented by exquisite precious-wood trim." Both vehicles are slathered with made-to-measure Louis Vuitton fabrics and other touches, "transforming every journey into a true celebration of the art of living," LV says. But it all started with a clock.La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton.Louis VuittonSinger asked Louis Vuitton if they had a clock that would go into one of their reimagined 911s. It sort of snowballed from there.AdvertisementAdvertisement"This unique and remarkable adventure began with a request for a dashboard clock for a car reimagined by Singer," said Jean Arnault, Louis Vuitton Watch Director. "In addition to the design and production of this clock by La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton workshops in Switzerland, it quickly became apparent to us that this collaboration with Singer could extend to the personalization of every functional element of the vehicle, enhancing them through our expertise in leather craftsmanship and watchmaking."Coupe and CabrioletLouis Vuitton"The specifications chosen by Louis Vuitton exposed us to techniques and methods developed over decades of experience," said Singer founder Rob Dickinson. "They trusted us with their esteemed brand, their traditions and their vision and it was a joy to bring our two worlds together."This collaboration resulted in matching luggage, diamond-pattern leather door trim, a Louis Vuitton surfboard, and LV-engraved set of keys, the latter which goes in the left side of the dash. The cars themselves feature Singer engineering throughout.AdvertisementAdvertisementThe naturally aspirated coupe model is powered by a Singer 4.0-liter flat six, air-cooled (of course) and fed by velocity stacks in silver rhodium, and finished with titanium exhausts. Shifting is done by a six-speed manual sending power to the rear wheels, while brakes are carbon ceramic.Again with the clocks...Louis VouittonThe cabriolet, designed under a team lead by Ghesquière, features a lot of wood trim everywhere with matching gold accents throughout."Automotive design is a passion that has always lived within me," said Ghesquière. "My collaboration with Singer has been a chance to reconnect with this fascinating world—a magnificent opportunity to explore truly exceptional automobiles."The cabriolet rides on a 964 chassis powered by a 3.8-liter twin-turbo flat-six with titanium exhaust, six-speed manual feeding the rear wheels stopped by carbon ceramic brakes with ABS, traction control, and electronic stability control with selectable drive modes. No prices were mentioned. Don't be so gauche.
