Since 2019, the company has been developing an autonomous charging platform based on robotics and AI-driven computer vision. The system uses a robot to handle the insertion and removal of charging cables, enabling the entire process to be automated without human intervention. This is designed to make charging large vehicle fleets scalable. Last year, Rocsys announced it was working on robotic charging solutions for ports. With the Rocsys M1, the company has now developed an advanced system. The system is currently in the pilot phase, with large-scale deployment planned for 2027, according to Rocsys. Its foundation is a modular architecture featuring multiple charging stations, allowing “a single system to seamlessly serve multiple vehicles across up to 10 bays”. Customers can choose from various installation options, including floor, wall, or ceiling mounting. The system “adapts to variations in lighting, weather and vehicle positioning, achieving consistent, predictable performance and delivering 99.9 per cent+ plug-in success rate in live environments,” the company states. At its core, the Rocsys M1 combines AI-powered computer vision for precise, continuously improving plug-in performance with motion intelligence for safe, context-aware operation. The solution is designed to be compatible with all types of electric vehicles, chargers, and plug types. The system will soon be demonstrated in action at the ACT Expo (4–6 May) in Las Vegas. In parallel, Rocsys has announced the closing of a $13 million Series A extension round led by Capricorn Partners. Other investors in this round include Scania Invest, Forward. One, SEB Greentech Venture Capital, and Graduate Ventures. This brings the company’s total funding raised to date to $56 million.Crijn Bouman, CEO and Co-Founder of Rocsys, comments: “Autonomous vehicles are growing rapidly, and infrastructure must keep pace. Without hands-free operations, autonomy stops at the depot. Based on a platform designed to extend beyond charging to automated interior cleaning and inspection, the Rocsys M1 introduces smart charging infrastructure for continuous, real-world use at scale.” Bouman also mentions an already signed ‘major robotaxi deal’ but does not provide further details.Johannes Fors Källström, representing one of the investors, shares his perspective. Källström, Manager at Scania Invest, states: “At Scania Invest, our mission is to support companies driving the transition to a more sustainable transport system. Rocsys technology addresses a key infrastructure bottleneck for the broader deployment of autonomous vehicles.”prnewswire.com
