It's the high-riding hatchback that has taken over America in 2026, and every automaker wants a piece of the SUV action. Nissan might have had a tricky few years with falling profits and a failed merger with Honda, but they're back with a vengeance and more models than you might first think. If you rank Nissan SUV models by size, you'll find that there's almost one for everybody. In this article, we've done exactly that. All Nissan SUV models by size have been ranked from smallest to largest, so you know which one is right for you. If you're wanting an SUV from this Japanese marque but don't know where to start, use this handy guide. All Nissan SUV Models on sale in 2026 have been ranked by size, specifically the segment and dimensions. All prices listed exclude any incentives, offers, or rebates. All information has been sourced from the manufacturer. 2026 Nissan Kicks Subcompact SUV 2025 Nissan Kicks front 3/4With the small hatchback dying out, it's compact SUVs that are the common choice for inner-city driving. The Nissan Kicks is the smallest of Nissan SUVs by size, but it's built for a function. The 2.0L four-cylinder has only 140 horsepower, but it returns 30 mpg in both FWD and AWD forms, which is more important to buyers than outright performance. The relatively short length and width means it'll also be easy to park in the city, and you can thank 360-degree cameras, lane keep assist and blind sport warning in making this easy to drive."Nissan describes the styling of the second-generation Kicks as being inspired by "sneaker culture," specifically elements such as the three-dimensional textures on the rocker panels. We also see a bit of that culture mirrored in the Kicks' color palette, which is more vibrant than many vehicles costing twice or even three times the price."- Jared Rosenholtz, Editor-at-Large, CarBuzzWith its low starting price, the base model may not be well-equipped, but it has some handy features. As standard, there's wireless CarPlay, keyless entry and a large 12.3-inch touchscreen. The shorter width may inhibit legroom at the back slightly (giving a total measurement of 34.5 inches), but 30 cubic feet of cargo volume is impressive. 2026 Nissan Leaf Subcompact SUV 2026 Nissan Leaf Platinum+ Exterior 5 Front QuarterWhile it's not next up in price, the next biggest Nissan SUV is the Leaf. We think it's one of the best deals in the automotive world right now, and that's one of the reasons we named it our Car of the Year for 2026. Without any offers or rebates, the base 303-mile trim starts at under $30k, and it's a show of force from the automaker that was a pioneer in mass-market electric cars. It gets even sweeter when you tick a few option boxes, as this small commuter can be had with Bose speakers, a wireless charger and heated seats all around."Nissan didn't make this car particularly sporty, but the low center of gravity contributes to decent road holding, and smooth but relaxed power delivery makes the Leaf feel eager to gain speed. It's a pleasant commuter that can be fun-ish when you want, and it's not too loud on the highway if you want to take a road trip."- Jared Rosenholtz, Editor-at-Large, CarBuzzThe performance may not blow you away with just a single 214-hp motor driving the front axle, but we actually found this car fun to drive in our testing. Its range does drop with extra features, but there's currently no AWD option to boost grip in difficult conditions. A 10-80% charge can be achieved in 35 minutes, too. 2026 Nissan Rogue Compact SUV 2025 Nissan Rogue Rock Creek Bronze Front Angle on DirtWith most of America loving the midsize SUV segment, it's the Rogue that comes out as the most popular Nissan model on sale today. Its larger size makes it big enough for family life (38.5 inches of legroom in the back and 36.5 cubic feet of space in the back), but it's not bulky enough to be an issue. A $30k starting price is also super competitive against its biggest rival, the Toyota RAV4.There is a plug-in hybrid version now, but in the gas-only spec, there's a three-cylinder under the hood producing 201 horsepower. The engine might not be the most exciting part of the car, and with only a 1,500 lb towing rating, it could be more capable. To achieve the low starting price, there are some sacrifices made on the Rogue, but if you spend a little more, you could get the Rock Creek trim, which has AWD, special aesthetics on the outside and selectable terrain modes. 2026 Nissan Rogue Plug-in Hybrid Compact SUV 2026 Nissan Rogue Plug-in Hybrid front three-quarterA welcome addition to the Nissan SUV lineup is the Rogue plug-in hybrid. Essentially a rebadged Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, it comes after a slow uptick in Nissan's move to hybrid powertrains. It's slightly bigger in every dimension than the gas-only Rogue, and with a pure electric-only range of 38 miles, it's more versatile at a higher price."You get most of that power in electric-only mode, so avoiding gasoline use isn't the performance penalty that you deal with in some other plug-in hybrids that are more dependent on their gas engines for full power. The close motor performance also gives the vehicle a more even power split than some of the competition that feel more front-biased."- Joel Stocksdale, Senior Road Tester, CarBuzzUnder the hood sits a 2.4L four-cylinder that powers all four wheels and can produce 248 horsepower. It may not 'wow' you with performance, but the single-speed automatic means power is easily accessible for an overtake or quick merge into traffic. The engine also acts as a generator most of the time for the batteries, so you're getting smooth electric propulsion whenever you want it. 2026 Nissan Murano Midsize SUV The front of the 2025 Nissan MuranoThe Nissan Murano sits in a unique position in all the different types of Nissan SUVs, as it promises more of a luxury focus and a design-first approach. That's present from the inside, which has more standard features than other Nissan models and puts some Infiniti models to shame. There's heated front seats, massaging seats (for extra), and a ten-speaker Bose sound system is available. It's seriously plush, and the quality is also up there with a luxury brand. In the back, you get 36.3 inches of legroom, which isn't as much as a Rogue, and the same goes for the cargo volume, which is capped at 32.9 cubes in the back. Folding down the seats gives you 63.5 cubic feet, though. AWD is standard on this car, and the 241-hp engine is plenty strong, although we would've liked to see slightly better fuel economy. 2026 Nissan Pathfinder Midsize Three-Row SUV 2026 Nissan Pathfinder -3658Moving into the first three-row SUV option, the Nissan Pathfinder is second biggest when ranking Nissan SUV models by size. The large size means that all three rows have decent space for legs and heads, but it's the cargo space that suffers a bit. Behind the third row, there's only 16.6 cubic feet of room, and when all the seats are down, you get 80.5 cubes. That's a lot, but not as much as rivals like the Chevy Traverse or Ford Explorer."Nissan has been steadily refining the Pathfinder over the last few years, and it's now at a point where it's a great all-around option. It doesn't have any real weaknesses, and it has genuine strengths such as pleasant driving dynamics and excellent interior controls. It would be a worthwhile SUV at almost any price."- Joel Stocksdale, Senior Road Tester, CarBuzzUnder the hood, the engine is also big compared to other Nissan models. A 3.5L V6 is the option for this family cruiser, and it's smooth to drive matched with competent on-road dynamics. Power is rated at 284 horsepower (295 with Rock Creek trim), and the maximum towing capacity sits at 6,000 lbs. In 2026, a hybrid option would've been nice, but this engine is so competent that we don't mind as much. 2026 Nissan Armada Full-Size SUV 2025 Nissan Armada_Platinum Reserve-18By definition, anything named 'Armada' is going to be big. There's no doubt that the Armada is the largest on the Nissan SUV biggest to smallest list, as it's the only one that goes over 200 inches in length. This large size, however, does have its advantages in space, as second-row occupants get almost 40 inches of legroom and third-row passengers have 32.9 inches. That's enough for small adults, but we'd keep it reserved for children. To power this large car, there's a large powertrain. The 3.5L V6 has been given two turbochargers to increase power output to 425 horses, and this car is capable of an 8,500 lbs towing capacity with 4WD as an option. Being a V6 in a world of hybrid powertrains, the fuel efficiency leaves something to be desired, but it's not as bad as you might think.Sources: Nissan, EPA
