Stellantis used its investor day Thursday to officially confirm two long-rumored Ram trucks: the compact Rampage and the returning Dakota midsize pickup. Both are expected to begin production in 2028, and the kicker? Both will be priced under $40,000.The Rampage is a unibody compact pickup already sold in South America, built on a platform shared with the Jeep Compass. It will compete directly with the Ford Maverick, which sold more than 155,000 units in the US last year, in a segment that has little serious, direct competition. Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis had previously said he loved the truck but didn’t detail any plans for a US launch. Now it’s official. The production location for the North American version hasn’t been confirmed, though sources point to Mexico. The Dakota will return as a body-on-frame midsize truck, slated for production in Toledo, Ohio. Kuniskis has said it needs to be a “real truck” at the $40,000 price point, and Stellantis claims it will be the most powerful truck in the midsize segment when it arrives, though whether that means it will out-power the likes of the Ford Ranger Raptor at 405-hp and 430 lb-ft, or just the base model at 270 hp, is unknown.
