Porsche is planning a trio of special 911s to support a Disney/Pixar movie, but this time it isn't for Cars. Instead of a recreation of Sally Carrera, this time the cars will be built to pay homage to the three stars of Toy Story 5. Wait, there are going to be Porsches in the new Toy Story? Eh... not exactly. Let us explain. Nothing Like A Good Sequel Porsche The German sports car company and modern Disney have one key thing in common. They both like to go back to the same well time and time again. It's why the 911 has been so endearing but so similar for more than 60 years, and why the latest release is Toy Story 5 and not Something New.In the latest installment, the three now-iconic characters of Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Jessie are "navigating an increasingly digital world." That's marketing for "Andy discovered video games." The three Porsche 911 models have been designed to "capture the personality and energy of its corresponding character."Porsche isn't saying much about the cars or what they will look like. Each of the three has been customized as part of its Sonderwunsch program, which is German for "special wishes." The program lets buyers go well beyond any of Porsche's extensive factory options to do extra custom paint, finishes, and interiors. That said, don't expect a 911 wearing Woody's hat or one with Buzz's rocket thrusters. If this round is anything like the 911 Sally Carrera, the resulting cars will have a color palette and interior trim that reflect the style of the characters. We're picturing rustic wood trim inside Woody's car and grey with green trim on the outside of the Lightyear special. We can tell from the teaser image that one of the cars is a GT3 RS. Even under a cover, that rear wing is unmistakable. The other two aren't quite as high up the 911 food chain, but the one on the left appears to be a Targa with its top opened. We can't quite make out enough details to tell on the last one. Three Porsches Will Be Sold For Charity Porsche "My primary focus has been shaping the world of Toy Story 5, especially as this new story explores the evolving role of play in a tech-driven environment," said production designer Bob Pauley. "At the same time, collaborating with the Sonderwunsch team has been about interpreting these characters through materials, color, and form – staying true to who they are without being literal. It’s a design exercise rooted in storytelling."The trio of Porsches will make their debuts at the premiere of Toy Story 5. After that reveal, all three special Porsches will be sold for charity. Porsche didn't specify the charity, but said that it was "part of a broader charitable initiative to benefit three designated non-profit organizations devoted to helping children and people in need."When Porsche sold the Sally Carrera 911 in 2022, it was a charity auction. That car, a 911 GTS, sold for $3.6 million to benefit charities including Girls Inc. and USA for UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency. With a figure that high, these new Sonderwunsch cars will have their fundraising work cut out for them. But as with any special Porsche, the sale price could go to infinity and beyond.
