Porsche's Stereo Upgrade Now Fits 2009–2016 ModelsPorschePorsche expanded its infotainment upgrade system to fit 2009–2016 911, Cayman, and Boxster models. The upgraded system puts a modern digital display with navigation and parking assistance, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, into older Porsches. The Porsche Classic Communication Management Plus (PCCM Plus) system will be available at Porsche dealers in early 2027.If you wanted to add Apple CarPlay to your 2009 Camry, you might be okay with a little DIY action. If that Camry were a 911, though, you'd probably be less inclined to start ripping things out of your dashboard.Thankfully, Porsche recognizes this. Porsche Classic Communication Plus (PCCM Plus) is a dealer-installed upgrade that can now bring CD-spinning Porsches into the screenager era with the same German precision that engineered the car in the first place.2013 Porsche Cayman.ROBERT KERIAN, THE MANUFACTURERFirst-generation PCCM systems were introduced in 2015 for 911, 924, 944, and 928 models built from the 1960s to the 1990s. An upgrade in 2020 added 996 models and boxer 998s to the list. The newest PCCM Plus version finally breaks into the 2000s by servicing Porsche 911, Boxster, and Cayman models built between 2009 and 2016. Porsche calls these the "future classics."The system is packed with everything expected in modern infotainment screens, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The 7.0-inch touchscreen can display navigation, music, and even YouTube videos in some cases. Oil pressure, oil temperature, and speed limit information is integrated into the screen, and the system can add visual cues to the car's existing parking assistance feature in Boxster and Cayman models.Of course, a Porsche is happiest on an open road, so the navigation system includes a Scenic Roads feature that can favor winding or scenic roads when choosing a navigation route.2012 Porsche 911 GT3 RS.PorscheThe 7.0-inch screen is surely a more modern look than the stereo system that predates it, but Porsche does its best to make the upgraded tech fit the rest of the interior's vibe. Drivers can even customize the screen to match the car's exterior. For the ultimate seamless experience, Porsche recommends dealer installation.Pricing and exact release dates for the newest PCCM Plus system haven't been announced yet, but it'll definitely cost more than the DIY touchscreen upgrades found on Amazon. The last PCCM Plus model started at $1475, and we'd expect the new one to stay in that general ballpark. Porsche says the system will launch in early 2027.➡️ Skip the lot.
