Image: 2026With these track results, the Taycan Turbo GT with Manthey Kit has beaten the previous record in the category of ‘premium electric vehicles’ by nine seconds – the 7:05.298 minutes set by the Rimac Nevera. However, the Porsche is not the fastest electric car overall on the famous racetrack: last summer, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra achieved a time of 6:22.091 minutes. While factors such as temperature and track grip levels on any given day can influence record laps on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, the development of the Taycan with the Manthey Kit is nevertheless clear: in 2024, a pre-production model of the Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach Package completed a lap in 7:07.55 minutes, twelve seconds slower than the current record. For those unfamiliar with Manthey Racing, the German auto racing team and tuning company was established in 1996 by former race car driver Olaf Manthey, and is renowned in motorsport for its racing deployments of Porsche vehicles in GT sports, but has also developed tuning kits for models from the German luxury carmaker. Since Porsche acquired a majority stake in Manthey, official Manthey Kits have been available. In the case of the already sporty Taycan Turbo GT, extensive aerodynamic measures have increased downforce by more than three times compared to the production vehicle, according to Porsche. The chassis and powertrain have also been optimised: with 600 kW, the system now delivers 20 kW more power than the standard model. The ten-second power boost in the ‘so-called ‘attack mode’, now reaches up to 130 kW. While the additional power naturally reduces lap times on the straights, the downforce improves cornering performance. For example, the development driver was 14 km/h faster at the ‘Lauda-Links’ section of the track just before ‘Bergwerk’ compared to his original record lap.Watch the full lap by Lars Kern in the video below:On the Nordschleife, you can feel how much more stability and confidence the car offers in fast sections and when braking,” said Porsche development driver, Lars Kern. “Thanks to the significantly enhanced aerodynamics, tyres with even greater performance, and increased overboost power available at the touch of a button, we were able to beat our previous best times.”“With the new Manthey Kit, we are offering a unique upgrade for the Taycan Turbo GT. The small but impactful project team from Manthey and Porsche has succeeded in transferring the Manthey DNA into a kit for electric vehicles. This effort has culminated in an impressive new Nordschleife record,” said Kevin Giek, Head of the Taycan model line. The Manthey Kit is not only available for new vehicles but can also be ordered as a retrofit kit for already delivered Taycan Turbo GT models with the Weissach Package.porsche.com
