As new model launches approach, several variants of Li Auto’s L series have entered a clearance phase. Certain configurations of the Li L7, L8 and L9 have sold out, according to a Chinese media report. The L9 has stopped accepting new orders, while only limited configurations of the L7 and L8 remain available. A similar pattern was seen ahead of the MEGA refresh, when older models were cleared before the release of updated versions. Under current plans, the next-generation Li L9 is scheduled to be officially unveiled in the second quarter of this year. Next-gen L9 Other L series models are also expected to be updated sequentially, although detailed timelines have yet to be finalized. According to previous reporting by ChinaEV Home, the new L9 will see comprehensive upgrades across its powertrain, intelligent driving system and chassis technology. The model will be equipped with two self-developed 5 nm automotive-grade intelligent driving chips, dubbed “Mach 100,” delivering effective computing power of up to 2,560 TOPS. Li Auto’s in-house Mach 100 chip CEO Li Xiang has stated that this represents five to six times the effective performance of NVIDIA’s Thor U. The top-spec L9 Livis variant will also feature an 800 V fully active suspension system, a full steer-by-wire chassis and four LiDAR units, with a starting price of RMB 559,800 ($80,700). At the NVIDIA GTC 2026 conference held yesterday, Li Auto also unveiled its next-generation autonomous driving foundation model for the physical world, MindVLA-o1. Li Auto’s next-gen autonomous driving foundation model, MindVLA-o1. The model supports multiple intelligent driving chip platforms, including dual M100, Thor U and dual Orin X, while remaining compatible with legacy systems. The next-generation L9 is expected to serve as a primary deployment platform for this model. During this year’s earnings call, Li Xiang identified the success of the L9 refresh as a key variable, noting it will directly influence the market potential of the entire L series. Despite achieving three consecutive years of profitability, Li Auto reported year-on-year declines in revenue, profit and deliveries last year, and has defined 2025 as a period of adjustment. Against this backdrop, the company has set a full-year sales target of around 480,000 units, representing 20% year-on-year growth, and outlined a “3+2” strategy. This includes optimizing its sales network, accelerating L series upgrades and scaling up pure electric models, alongside advancing intelligent driving capabilities and expanding into overseas markets.
