Image: LeapmotorThe B05 was first showcased in Germany nearly nine months ago, although its interior remained concealed during its premiere at IAA Mobility. The model was then launched in China towards the end of last year, where it is marketed as the Lafa 5, and it has now since arrived in Europe. With its coupé-like silhouette, the 4.43-metre-long car targets the C-segment, appealing to drivers seeking a more dynamic design. Leapmotor says the B05 combines sporty style with everyday comfort – not as a pure sports car, but a dynamically designed model that bridges the gap between the compact and mid-size classes.Until now, Leapmotor’s European lineup has so far focused on SUV models such as the B10 and C10, as well as the brand’s first model, the electric T03 city car. Alongside the B05, the company has also announced the B03X, an urban SUV. This rapidly expanding range demonstrates that Leapmotor is gaining significant momentum in Europe. The manufacturer is pricing the B05 competitively: with a starting list price of €26,900, the B05 is one of the most affordable models in its class. Technically, the model features a cell-to-chassis (CTC) battery integrated into its underbody, with energy capacities of 56.2 or 67.1 kWh. The maximum WLTP range varies between 401 and 482 kilometres. The battery supports DC charging at up to 174 kW, allowing it to reach 80 per cent state of charge (SoC) from 30 per cent in just 17 minutes. The rear-axle-mounted electric motor delivers 160 kW and accelerates the B05 from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds. Leapmotor has not included the weaker 132 kW motorisation, also available in China, in its European market offering.Leapmotor describes the B05’s body shape as inspired by coupé proportions, which is also reflected in its aerodynamics (drag coefficient: 0.26). Additional features include frameless doors and a wide stance. The manufacturer specifies the vehicle’s dimensions as 4.43 metres in length and 1.88 metres in width. The design is further enhanced by blade-design LED headlights, a full-width rear light strip, and 19-inch alloy wheels. Exterior colour options include Lightning Yellow, Windy Grey, Metallic Black, Starry Night Blue, and Galaxy Silver. The interior follows a minimalist design, centred around a 14.6-inch touchscreen and an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster. Leapmotor also highlights features such as a panoramic sunroof, 25 storage compartments, and ‘premium’ materials like eco-leather. The boot offers up to 1,400 litres of capacity with the rear seats folded down, though the capacity in the standard seating configuration is not specified. The B05’s digital ecosystem is based on Leap OS 4.0 Plus and is supported by connected services accessible via the Leapmotor app. “Users can remotely control key vehicle functions, including locking, climate conditioning, charging schedules and battery pre‑heating, while also accessing real‑time vehicle status and location. Digital key functionality and advanced security features ensure convenience, connectivity and peace of mind, whether on the road or at home,” Leapmotor states. The B05 is available in two trim levels: Life and Design. The Life version is offered with both battery options, while the Design version is exclusively available with the larger 67.1 kWh battery. As the higher trim level, the Design variant includes “additional comfort features, refined interior materials, and an upgraded audio system”.media.stellantis.com
