Three Key PointsThe Prestige Black is a new top trim level for 2026, adding top end amenities and In-black accents. The 3.5-liter twin turbo with 48V e-Supercharger powertrain delivers immediate, strong performance with 409 horsepower and 405 lb-ft of torque. The 27-inch OLED display and premium materials create a high-end, modern cabin. The coupe-style design adds a sportier look while retaining solid everyday practicality. The 2026 GenesisGV80 Coupe occupies a spot in a niche, but growing, segment. Coupe-roofed SUVs are far more about style than practicality. The GV80 Coupe takes everything that made the standard GV80 excellent and adds a sharper, more stylized edge. It also boasts the GV80's most powerful engine with 409 horsepower, 34 more than the Prestige Black trim on the regular GV80. original-5762-genesisprestigeblackgv80coupe269 My tester's base price was $89,400. Standard feature highlights included All-Wheel Drive with Terrain Mode, 22-inch black alloy wheels with floating center caps, dark headlamp bezels, soft close doors, panoramic sunroof, power hands-free smart liftgate w/ auto open, auto-dimming power folding mirrors w/ Genesis logo puddle lamps, 27-inch OLED instrument cluster and navigation, Nappa leather with exclusive quilting, dark interior trim with Black Ash Wood, microfiber suede headliner, Ergo-Motion driver's seat, power front seats with power lumbar, power cushion extension/bolster, power 2nd row seats, heated and ventilated front and rear seats, heated front console armrest, heated steering wheel, 3-zone automatic climate control, Wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, Bang & Olufsen premium audio, and a wireless device charger. The total price, including a $1,495 destination fee and $650 Uyuni White paint, came to $91,545.Exterior and Interior Stylingoriginal-5743-genesisprestigeblack1153 The Coupe's profile might not optimize cargo or passenger space (the regular GV80 can be outiftted with a third row), but it's a small price to pay for this head-turner. The GV80 Coupe competes with other the German heavy hitter coupe SUVs, namely the BMW X6, Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe, and Porsche Cayenne Coupe. Hands down, it looks better than every single one of them. While each one of them has a sloping roofline, the GV80 Coupe manages the details better, namely the twin-bubble roof, the ducktail spoiler, and the parametric lighting and styling elements. The black mesh grilles look super here, too. original-5744-genesisprestigeblack1178 They match well with the special 22-inch black wheels, body trim, and window surrounds. Genesis even gave this trim level black headlight and taillilght bezels. The rear design is where the Coupe truly stands apart, with a fastback-style roofline, integrated spoiler elements, and quad exhaust outlets that reinforce its performance focus. I don't often get surprised by car interiors these days, but the Prestige Black trim impressed me more than any in recent memory. Genesis has managed to make a truly special cabin in the GV80 Coupe Prestige Black, and it's unlike anything else in the industry. The GV80 3.5T Prestige is already one of the best cabins around, but the Prestige Black is even more special. Transluscent black plastic on the shifter and infotainment control knob, the open pore Black Ash Wood, and the darkened trim bits combine for a rich and atypical dark interior. Rather than annoying piano black trim, Genesis has given the GV80 Coupe Prestige Black a a plastic on the center console that's somewhere between gloss and matte. The result is a more refined look that resists dust and fingerprints. Paired with the dark multi-faceted crystalline-like gear selector and infotainment knob, the look is stunning. On top of that, the loverall fit and finish are excellent, and the cabin even one-ups the established luxury brands like BMW, Mercedes, Audi, and Lexus.Infotainment and Technologyoriginal-5769-genesisprestigeblackgv80coupe305-1 A wide 27-inch OLED display stretches across the dashboard, combining the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system into one seamless unit. The screen is sharp, responsive, and easy to read, whether you’re navigating menus or monitoring driving information. Genesis now has the best main menu I've ever seen on an interface, and the physical controller is a gem to use. The climate control panel is also wonderful, using a combination of knobs and large, responsive icons. original-5766-genesisprestigeblackgv80coupe286 The system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with built-in navigation and voice controls. A rotary controller complements the touchscreen, making it easier to interact with the system while driving. Audio quality is exceptional thanks to the premium Bang & Olufsen sound system, and the cabin remains impressively quiet even at highway speeds. The GV80 Coupe also comes equipped with a full suite of driver assistance features, including adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and an advanced highway driving assist system. A vivid head-up display and augmented reality navigation further enhance usability. I especially love the crisp album displays thrown up on the glass when using Apple CarPlay. Comfort, Space, and Usabilityoriginal-5768-genesisprestigeblackgv80coupe300 Despite its coupe-like design, the GV80 doesn't sacrifice much comfort at all. In fact, front-seat comfort is a highlight, with supportive seats that strike a strong balance between sportiness and long-distance comfort. The driving position is easily adjustable, and outward visibility is excellent. Every surface feels premium with no hint of cheapness in a cabin that's one of the nicest in the segment. The seat bolsters tighten up when you dial it into Sport or Sport+ mode, and the heated center armrest automatically kicks in when you use the heated seat functions. original-5767-genesisprestigeblackgv80coupe292 The second row has the same legroom (38.7 inches) as the standard GV80, though headroom is slightly reduced compared to the standard GV80 due to the sloping roofline. It gets cut by 0.8 inches, but there's still ample room for tall adults. Cargo space is also slightly reduced with 29.3 cubic feet behind row two and 61.1 cubic feet with the rear seats folded flat. The standard two-row GV80 offers 38.7 and 71.8, respectively. The Driving Experience - 9/10original-5746-genesisprestigeblack1555 The biggest highlight of the GV80 Coupe is its powertrain. The top dog engine for the GV80 was the twin turbo V6, but the Prestige Black gets the same engine paired with an 48-volt mild hybrid "e-Supercharger" producing 409 horsepower and 405 lb-ft of torque. The addition of the electric supercharger makes a noticeable difference, delivering immediate response and helping eliminate turbo lag. It's especially noticeable in Sport and Sport+ mode, where responses are quicker and power comes on with near-immediacy. original-5747-genesisprestigeblack1753 Acceleration feels strong and effortless, with power available across the rev range. Sport+ mode is especially aggressive, but the handling dynamic doesn't improve much. Whether you’re pulling away from a stop or accelerating at highway speeds, the GV80 Coupe feels quick and composed. The eight-speed automatic transmission shifts smoothly and keeps the engine in its optimal power band. 0-60 comes in a quick 5.2 seconds. It's too bad the handling isn't commensurate with the bump in power. The GV80 Coupe is more of a straight-line cruiser than it is a corner carver. Body roll is palpable, and it feels top heavy in the turn. Ride quality is great over smooth pavement, but the 22-inch wheels and low profile tires make for pronounced jolts over bumps and gaps. Final ThoughtsGenesis has made major strides in the luxury segment. It has ditched its also-ran status among the Germans and Japanese, having found its own special flavor that melds style, power, and technology. The GV80 Coupe 3.5T Prestige Black e-SC AWD is easily the brands most opulent and stylish SUv. The added power, sharper handling, and distinctive styling give it a clear identity in a crowded luxury SUV segment. It's not for driving enthusiasts in terms of dynamics and handling, but it is an impressive feat for the Korean luxury brand. For buyers who want a premium SUV that stands out visually and delivers solid performance without sacrificing everyday usability, the GV80 Coupe is an excellent choice.
