‘I Don’t Blame Your Neighbors!:’ Ford Driver Has A Loud, Custom Mustang. Then The Police Get Called To Check If It’s Too Loud

For some auto enthusiasts, the roar of a big engine is a sweet lullaby. For others, it’s just a nuisance—a potentially illegal one.

A Ford driver with a custom Mustang has become a topic of discussion for its roaring V8 engine.

In a TikTok that’s generated over 176,000 views as of this writing, Adam Bilacsics (@shelby_bila) says the police were called for a noise complaint over his Mustang Shelby GT350.

‘I Don’t Blame Your Neighbors’

In the TikTok, Bilacisics shares that one his neighbors is fed up with his custom Mustang and the noise it makes when starting up.

In the video, he points at the building across the street from his driveway and says one of the neighbors called the cops on him. Bilacsics lives in a multi-home complex, so which exact neighbor called the cops is unknown.

“Apparently one of my friends over here decided that they are going to call the cops the other day and put a cop right there in front of my house because my car is so loud in the morning,” he begins.

This seemingly upset Bilacsics, who has dedicated time and effort into customizing his Ford Mustang Shelby GT350.

Viral bits from across the social media landscape

Our team of experts tracks what's trending so you don't have to—from viral videos to online debates that have everyone talking.

“Well it’s 7:30 in the morning now, and guess what,” Bilacsics continues.

Bilacsics seems to have chosen vengeance, as he proceeds to turn his car on.

“Well, I guess I need new neighbors—people who love the V8. GT350 for the Win,” Bilacsics captions the post.

Many commenters understood his neighbors’ frustration.

“I don’t blame your neighbors,” one wrote.

“As a car guy, just cause it’s loud doesn’t mean it sounds good,” another shared.

“Oh yeah, that is pretty rude to wake up an entire neighborhood like that. Especially if people have babies and small children,” a third replied.

“Dude come on. Your neighbors don’t deserve that,” another added.

How Loud Can Your Car Be?

Noise ordinances vary by jurisdiction, but most have laws that provide a baseline. Many cities and towns also have additional restrictions. Some noise ordinances are specific to neighborhoods as well, as a loud car in a busy downtown area isn’t the nuisance it could be on a quiet residential street.

Noise levels are measured in units called decibels (dB), which measure the intensity of the sound. A normal conversation ranges from 45 to 60 decibels and a traffic jam is between 70 and 85 decibels. Anything over 85 decibels is considered potentially dangerous, as loud noises can damage hearing, particularly when there’s prolonged exposure.

The Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) requires workers to wear protective ear equipment in environments with noise levels of 85 decibels or above.

The Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R “produces 92dB of exhaust noise,” according to CarParts. That means it’s louder than a leaf blower and lawn mower at 85 decibels apiece, but not as loud as a concert or club, which typically range from 105 to 110 decibels.

Was The Video Even Real?

Many people who watched Bilacsics’ video were incensed over how loud his vehicle purportedly is.

“It’s just screaming ‘I need attention,’” one opined.

“Sorry about your micro,” a second said.

Viewers flooded the comment section with disbelief.

“Were you thinking people would be on your side,” one asked.

Bilacsics revealed the truth about the supposed angry neighbor in his reply.

“I was hoping for a viral video,” he wrote, “the audio isn’t even real. But I love reading comments and trolling people.”

The audio is actually an original sound from @captainchris1969.

That account posted the original video in 2020 and caught the attention of 4.5 million viewers.

This audio became a trend. Many other TikTok creators have recreated the post by using the audio.

Bilacsics jokingly told Motor1, “They came out, they told me to turn it on, I did. They were like ‘Are you serious?’ I was like, ‘What do you mean?’ He goes, ‘this is the best sounding V8 I’ve ever heard in my whole life.’ Then I took him for a spin, and now we are best friends.”
