Top-sellers in the U.S. include the Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, and other cars in this class.Given this, brands are heavily investing in more hybrid SUVs, seemingly fitting new shapes and sizes in the segment. Honda's been trying to revitalize its lineup and sales by announcing a slew of new hybrid models, one of which is a new SUV that has been spotted on U.S. roads.Honda or Acura?A post by Kindelauto on Instagram is making the rounds online; the post has three photos of a heavily camouflaged SUV that was said to have been taken near a Honda plant in North America. Back in May of this year, Honda announced that a new hybrid SUV is in the works and will be sold in North America by 2030; rumors speculated that this new SUV will be the next-generation RDX.AdvertisementAdvertisementHowever, since the spy shot doesn't indicate a specific brand, speculation is rife that it could also be a new Honda SUV instead of purely Acura. Creative311 is another automotive blog that has an interesting take on the spy shot, claiming that there's a chance that it could be the Accord SUV as well, which is scheduled to be launched sometime in 2029. However, the prototype of the Accord SUV shows more of a Subaru Outback challenger, and the spyshot shows a tall SUV.Instagram/KindelautoHidden Too WellThe design on the test car is unmistakably an SUV, speculated to be around the mid-size segment. However, the mystery continues based on the design itself because the camouflage did its job really well by hiding the more detailed cues. Looking at the rear, we can see that the taillights are one continuous LED strip, and at the front, you find sleek headlights. Looking at the Honda Hybrid Sedan prototype and the Acura Hybrid SUV Prototype does give us a glimpse into the design of this mysterious new SUV, but none of the prototypes are direct copies of the spy shot model. At the moment, nobody is entirely sure just what the mysterious SUV is, but either way it'll definitely be close to a reveal given that it's already undergoing real-world testing.Instagram/KindeautoThis story was originally published by Autoblog on Aug 7, 2026, where it first appeared in the News section.
