641-HP Genesis GV60 Magma Starts Under $72,000GenesisThe 2027 Genesis GV60 Magma is the luxury brand's first dedicated high-performance model, and it starts at $71,495.Featuring a 641-hp all-wheel-drive powertrain, the Magma-spec electric SUV also has an exclusive Drift mode as well as simulated engine sounds and gearchanges. The new GV60 Magma will soon start reaching dealers in California, New Jersey, and New York. We've been hearing about Genesis' new performance-focused subbrand for several years, with the GV60 Magma concept being introduced back at the 2024 New York auto show. Flash forward to earlier this year, and we had the chance to get behind the wheel of the 641-hp electric luxury SUV, an experience that helped distinguish it from the equally powerful Hyundai Ioniq 5 N. While the 2027 Genesis GV60 Magma costs almost $10,000 more than its corporate cousin, its $71,495 starting price is quite a bit lower than our initial $80K estimate.GenesisWhat do you get for that money? Well, the GV60 looks aggressive, albeit mature. Sure, it has a menacing mug, a lowered stance, and a stubby rear wing, but its intricate headlights and smooth bodywork help mostly avoid the juvenile boy-racer aesthetic. You can also pick any paint color you want, as long as it's Magma Orange, Uyuni White, Vik Black, or Makalu Gray Matte. Inside, the cabin features Genesis' first performance-spec front seats, and the space is dressed with microsuede surfaces as well as Obsidian Black upholstery that's contrasted with orange accent stitching. Along with unique digital gauges, the steering wheel has buttons for the exclusive drive modes and settings.AdvertisementAdvertisementEvery GV60 Magma comes with Boost, Drift, GT, and Sprint modes (plus launch control). The hi-po EV SUV also has the ability to mimic engine sounds and simulate gearchanges, though you don't have to activate either one if you don't want to. However, you will have to visit certain states if you want to buy one. When the GV60 Magma reaches Genesis dealers in the coming weeks, it'll only be sold in California, New Jersey, or New York.➡️ Skip the lot.
